I was bumping Pac threads before his last fight an no one would bother to comment on them. They would rather argue about Canelo v GGG all day.

And, I do think a lot of Mayweather fans migrated to Ward. A lot of these same "fans" were clowning the guy when he was in litigation and not fighting.
Funny thing about Golovkin fans is that many of them were Canelo fans, and then felt they needed to pick a side, so they went with the bigger, undefeated guy. I laugh about it all because I am not caught up in that shyt. I'm not going to dislike a guy just because he's fighting someone I like. I still like Kovalev and Ward, Canelo and GGG, and I still like Pac more than May, but respect them both.
I don't know if we all migrated to Ward. I am not a Ward fan. When Ward got called the same names as Floyd ( eventually Broner , Haymon and Wilder would be as well), despite having nothing in common with him, I found myself "defending" Ward because I was offended by the comment, not because I am a big fan (like I am Floyd, Danny garcia, Hagler)

It is crazy how Ward and Floyd are called the same things when they have absolutely nothing in common other than being great pro boxers.

Just for clarity, I don't think "all" Mayweather fans jumped over. Or, even the majority. But, I do recall a lot of people coming over after May retired.

As far as them facing the same criticisms, yea, it's uncanny. Reveals a lot of ignorance on the part of their detractors.

As far as fan base wars, both were pretty much rated 1-2 in most peoples eyes P4P, combined with the years of the "build up", and I don't see anything coming close to the animosity and fuckery involved between two fighters and their "fans".
Lmaaaooooo!! Damn, you Sir almost made me burn myself with my coffee. "Red k hit squads".

Come to think of it, Pac-Boy once gave me red k for asking him if it was odd for 51 year Lennox Lewis to look old.

There's like a 50:1 Golovkin to Canelo fan ratio here.

I am a huge fan of both Canelo and GGG. There is some rivalry between Canelo fans and GGG fans but nothing like the rivalry between many Pac and Mayweather fans. There will always be guys like me who have always been fans of all 4 boxers. Because he is so damn good there are a fairly large group of guys on here who have nothing against Canelo but hate GGG and trash him many times a day. GGG has lots of fans on here but he is really hated by maybe 10 guys. They often start GGG trashing threads several times a day. They do enough trashing of him to equal many normal posters. Among this group that I call the GGG hate club he is the most hated and trashed boxer I have ever seen on this forum.

Pac-May was on a completely different level. You had two large fanbases that threw trash at each other day in and day out.

GGG-Canela is completely different as Canela really doesnt have that many fans here. So the mudslinging is much different as it is all about GGG. Fans and haters. Canela just has a supporting act.

I began lurking on here on and off in 2013, and made an account I forgot about in 2015. I started posting in earnest this year or so, so I haven't really been around that long. So my question is directed at the older forum members and it is this; are the current crop of GGG and Canelo fan bases comparable to the Pac and May fan bases? I mean, they seem equally poised as compared to how overwhelmingly reviled Floyd was and still is, but is the constant mud slinging comparable? Has the support become fanatical yet?

I'm asking as somebody who not a fan of either boxer, and would genuinely be neutral if the fight ever happened.

EDIT: Also, just to clarify, I meant I don't like either GGG or Canelo, not May or Pac. Unashamedly a fan of Floyd, and like Pac as a boxer.
GGG/Canelo is not comparable to Floyd/Pac fanbase. The biggest rivalry is between networks and promoters. lol

Yes, some did and for the very worst reasons, no doubt.

I personally do not think "sports hate" is bad. I also don't feel the need to like every fighter to prove I am neutral. None of us are truly neutral. However, it did get very bad at the height of the Floyd/Manny stuff.
