BigJavi asked me to collect how many people nominated diff fighters, no one mentioned Pacman before you got into the thread. He'd likely not get many votes, but I'm not necessarily opposed to him being there if it's just to round out a full 10.

Pac should definitely be in it.

If you wanted to be critical, you could take points away from the Loma win over Walters cuz he was 2 years inactive. Ward, Frampton and Roman got controversial decisions in fights that I thought were close, but lost.

Joe Smith's win over Fonfara was better than his win over a 51 year old, inactive BHop.

Crawford won the lineal title at 140 but his other wins this year was against Lundy and a Molina who couldn't make weight.

So to me its between Pac and Crawford. Pac for dominating 2 top 10 WW's that are active and in their primes and Crawford for getting the lineal title at 140

Frampton doesn't have the balls to fight hard fights which is why he ran from Rigo 😭😂😂

Putting Smith Jr is a JOKE! he beats a 50+ year old active HOF who is too stubborn to retire whos last fight was in 2014 vs. Kovalev? GTFO!!! ok Fonfara?! really? I mean I come to NSB thinking people would know something about this sport but the opposite is true. You know I read a comment saying Roman Gonzalez victory was controversial? what? it was a clear UD from three judges -- its like when a person tells a lie over and over and people will start believe it...just because he had facial damage...and still no mention of Shinsuke Yamanaka?! damn this forum is soft boy! you got the undefeated bantamweight champion making history vs. the #2. guy in the division and no one talks about it....but they bring up Smith Jr for beating up old-man Hopkins!!!

and then they bring out Pacman....oh yeah great......you know just a few weeks ago Jessie Vargas was **** according to these guys ( I supported Jessie BTW and picked him to win ) but now all of a sudden he a quality win...ok so he beats Timothy Bradley a guy hes fought twice and really already beat him, but OK.

Talking about Frampton....hey man Im just going to leave this here and you tell me who won ; there are eleven images/gifs here so check them all out before you reach a conclusion.

In 2014, Kovalev won RING fighter of the year for winning a decision vs. 49-year old Hopkins. Joe Smith Jr. destroyed 51-year old Hopkins and stopped Fonfara in 1 round.

              Joe Smith 2016 > Kovalev 2014

First off, people exaggerate how inactive Walters has been. He's only been out for 11 months and he could have taken the fight earlier in the year but he didn't. His fault not anyone else.
Why is that other fighters get credit for beating older fighters that have been inactive for over a year, but Loma can't get credit for beating someone who has been inactive for 11 months? And Walters is not an older fighter by the way.

Joe Smith is an example of that. People are giving him a lot of credit for beating a 51 year old who has been inactive for over two years. People didn't want to give Kovalev credit for beating Hopkins two years ago but Joe Smith get credit? How does that make any sense.

I'm still trying to figure out how anyone out did Loma.
People don't want to give him credit for Martinez, yet Martinez has done more than the majority of fighters the other guys beat. That's what I find funny.
If you don't want to give Loma credit for beating Martinez then other guys can't get credit for beating lesser fighters.
And Loma was the most dominant whether people like it or not.
He stopped both of his opponents. Not bad for a guy that can't punch, right?
Not a bad year for such an overrated fighter like most say.

If Frampton wins the awards. I hope Loma fights him next year. He'll have Frampton saying, "You're 2016 fighter of the year, Loma. Not Me. Spare me, King Loma, like you did Leo."
There is two big FOTY awards: BWAA and The Ring. I won't mind if Loma and Frampton split one each.
The Boxingscene award is great too. It would be the tie breaker.

People may get mad at my post but I'm at least trying to break it down. I'm not just shouting a name because I want to, like most. Some of what I wrote was for fun but people love to get butt hurt for some reason.

                      1) Kovalev (won't win cause he took the official L in the Ward fight)
                      2) Frampton
                      3) Lomachenko
                      4) Pacquiao
                      5) Joe Smith
                      6) Terrence Crawford
                      7) Roman Gonzalez
                      8) Charlo

                      Frampton is my pick.
