going into the first fight kovalev was champion, he brought those belts to the table and ward challenged him. this time ward has those belts, he is bringing them to the table and giving kovalev at shot at his titles.

if he is bringing more to the table he should be paid accordingly. simple as that.

then there is the fact that he now holds a win against kovalev as opposed to them fighting for the first time. their repective checks should adapt to that change as well.

i think duva is just trying to piss ward off and make him take a lesser offer in order to beat kovalev more convincingly and make a statement. ward isnt the kind of guy to fall for that though, he knows what he is worth and wont be compromised.

but, Ward got paid more than Kovalev, despite the fact that Kovalev was the unified champion.....

..... Duva is right imho..... if they already have the rematch details in contract, then Ward needs to talk to Roc Nation.....

The whole point is Ward is not getting what he "deserves" in terms of money generated, he is getting more than he deserves because Jay Z tried to start a boxing promotion from scratch, and the only way he could sign fighters to such an inexperienced promotion was to overpay them. Do you really think Cotto "deserves" 10 million vs Kirkland? Do you really think that PPV will generate the $25,000,000 necessary to pay the satellite company, Kirkland, and get Cotto $10,000,000?

No man. It won't. So Cotto does not financially "deserve" that much based on what the fight will generate, and yet, Roc Nation, Jay Z's promoter, the same promoter, will also overpay Cotto.
