I'll share the unpopular opinion; I'm OK with it. Chavez is huge and Canelo hasn't even ventured to 160 yet. It doesn't matter what Canelo weighs on fight night. He's been fighting 154lbers for years and it's very different to fight a hard puncher who has been 3 weight classes above where you're at.

I don't think it's a meaningful fight. I'd rather see Canelo fight Golovkin, or someone relevant at 154. But, boxing needs some money fights right now and this one doesn't bother me all that much.

Not a terrible fight but not too many people seem to give a damn about Chavez around here. Canelo needs to fight some top dogs, its getting a bit embarassing.

Huge event and atmosphere and easy money for Canelo. Why not?

Nelo should face GGG based of what he said that he put gloves on in that same moment thats why

I agree its fun match and i dont mind seeing this match

For GGGs cheerleaders ita only ok for lil G to make circus shows vs smaller guys, the same man he said was too small for him suddenly turned into his biggest challenge to date lol

acording to espn chavez is being offered 5 million, canelo will end up making a lot more money fighting chavez than ggg...
chavez is basically killing him self (at 165) to make the fight for a lot less money than ggg...

It's ok as long as it's not ggg.

It's a meaningless fight but at least we're gonna see Canelo fight at a significantly higher weight than 155 against the biggest, most durable
opponent he has ever faced, that fight can actually tell us something that we didn't know about Canelo, but it's always an if with Chavez Jr. cuz u never know if he's gonna show up at all.

Canelo can take a fight 160+ lbs first before he fights the top guy if that's what they're really working towards like Ward vs Kovalev, Canelo has the right to get acclimated to the added weight and to adjust his style so that he can fight bigger, taller, more durable guys, I'm actually in favor of that so that if he fought GGG and lost, that there will be NO excuses.

It is a sideshow fight, now there is nothing wrong with that for guys that are past their best, haven't quite made it or have no reasonable opposition available.

Canelo is a top guy so sideshow fights should be something that is rather rare, but this is 2 out of 3 so that is rather disappointing. Not mad because I get it but would have liked to see better. Not like I won't watch though because watching JCC Jr. get beat up is a guilty pleasure of mine.

It would be a big money fight, there's certainly a level of intrigue but problem is Chavez would be severely weight drained. He weighed in at 167.6 last week and looked like a skeleton.
