I've posted a lot of criticism of Ward in the past, but I would never call him a quitter. That isn't in his make-up.

I'm sure his main motive for fighting is money, not legacy, but he is a warrior, and will fight to win when the chips are down.

But ask yourself this ... why did his promoter guarantee him $5million, on top of his share of the PPV?

To me, the answer to that question is obvious ... if Ward hadn't been guaranteed 2.5 times the money Kovalev was on, he would never have agreed to the fight.

And no one ducked Tyson, probably the most feared fighter ever in his prime. Kovalev is easy to work with. He doesn't care who or where he fights. Only made $2mil for Ward. He has proven over & over again he just wants to fight

The money? He's turning down $10 mil for a fight at the full 160. Imagine how much he'd want for 157

The WBO is the only org that doesn't allow you to hold belts in two different weight classes and GGG doesn't have that belt. I think the WBC gave GGG a lot of leeway by allowing him to keep delaying his mandatory shot and taking step aside money. Per their rules they could've removed him from the mando position and moved the next guy up. The WBA has been accommodating also. Allowed him to go more than 18 months without calling the mando. Ruled in favor of GGG on the 75/25 split. Gave Loeffler a 2 week extension that turned into a month until their hands were forced to make a decision. The IBF has treated him no different than they treat all their champions. The orgs have worked with GGG.

Is that why Canelo handed over his WBC belt ... because GGG wouldn't fight him for $10million?
