Good article, completely agree with it. These PPVs are really hurting the sport. I mean, if you just have to make it a PPV, at least make it affordable enough where boxing fans will buy it, not over $50.00.

I'm glad it's on ppv, that way Cotto can't waste the HBO budget.

I also disagree with Idec, the vast majority of people who stream the fights for free, weren't going to buy it in the first place, so the promoters aren't losing money. I didn't even bother to check out a stream for Pac/Vargas, nor will I for Cotto/Mayorga II..... er I mean Cotto/Kirkland.

It's all about this, it's all about that. He needs Anne Wolf this and Anna Wolf that.

Bull****, Kirkland is garbage and nothing is changing that.

I was the biggest Martinez fan out there and I saw enough in the Murray fight to know that he was done. You're right, Martinez started a clear favourite, but the odds closed closer to the fight. The betting was all about whether Martinez's knee would hold up - it didn't.

Roach knew better than anyone that Martinez was done. His entire style was based on his foot-speed to keep the opponent at the range he wanted, without his knees, that was gone. The Martinez that started against Chavez was no more, and Cotto beat a version of Martinez that would have lost to Chavez and many others.

I might not even watch this on a stream.

Anyone paying PPV for this is out of their mind.

Lol, Roach petitioned to the NYSAC to not allow Martinez to use a knee brace.

This fight being on PPV is B.S. It'll do as bad as Mosely-Mayorga 2 a couple of years ago.
Speaking of that, does anyone really know how many PPV buys Moseley-Mayorga 2 did? Is there a link to the actual ppv buys?

I'm not dis*****g that cotto didn't beat a weakened version of Martinez but my point is, nobody knew what version of Martinez would show up until fight night. It's not like cotto knew going in for a fact that it'd be an easy fight. He accepted the fight just like he's accepted fights against other top fighters his entire career. Sometimes you luck out like he did with Martinez and sometimes you don't like he did with plaster wraps Margarito.

Put Cotto-Kirkland on the same card as Ward-Kovalev II. That's the only way to make it PPV worthy.
