speaking for myself, I promoted shows for over a decade, and co-promoted numerous events on ESPN, Showtime, HBO, and HBO PPV, all of which I had access to the budget and financials, so I think I may have a general idea of what I'm talking about.

Maybe not though. I probably need to upload an old-school black and white avatar before Im considered "credible".......

Fans don't care about Roc Nation, Jay Z doesn't even care about Roc Nation, so he wouldn't even used his name to promote this card, he never does. Boxing fans are not going to say 'oh Ward vs Kovalev are fighting in NY, and it's a NY and NJ promoter card. Nobody sees that, they see the fighters. The fight would've bombed in NY. It actually did the best it could do, considering it wasn't in Oakland or Russia

Well, to be credible, you would have to show some sort of proof....I'm sorry if I don't just take some guy on the internets word for it

In Russia, kovalev had to walk around and try to sell tickets for his own fight. So no, it wouldn't have done well there either. This was a true boxing fans fight, the casual fan doesn't know enough about the sport to have wanted to buy it....imo anyway.

I think that because Kovalev was fighting Ward, the fans would've gotten up for that fight as opposed to Kovalev vs Chilemba which let's face it, that would be a hard sell anywhere
