Hell Yeah!!! That fight won't be a problem to make. Since he's the WBO 154 champion he can fight Saunders right away for the 160 belt...

Why didn't GGG pull a Lomachenko and offer another $1-1.5 million if he beats ggg to make the fight??? He could of completed his DREAM and had the last belt for another $1-2 million. Team BS is at the $100 poker chip table throwing in $5 chips

..... talked Jacobs, but fought Wade and Brook LMAO

so then you admit you were LYING when you said Loeffler never mentioned Jacobs prior to the mando being called

Glad we got that cleared up.

I think they'll offer him $3 million, and Saunders will jump at it! I think Saunders knows he has a better chance of beating Canelo than GGG!

Sad reality is that GGG's team knows losing to Jacobs (doubt it, but a possibility) would shelve the payday against Canelo (shades of Saunders in there).

Other sad reality is there isn't much money on the table to go around for GGG/Jacobs.

If Jacobs goes for Canelo he'll get stripped, so it won't be for the regular belt anyway. Its also a fight we don't want to see.

Fingers crossed that GGG/Jacobs gets made with Canelo lined up for the winner. Thats what we want to see, nothing else.

Really hope this fight comes off, but it's a damn shame they didn't have separate fights in December to help build their promotion.

                  LOL .................

but luckily Loeffler has more patience than 99% of posters on this site. If promoting was down to the posters on this site there'd be more entertainment coming from dust-downs between the 'promoters' than any boxing match-ups.

Posters on here say Golovkin is carefully managed. There may be some truth in that. I'd say Canelo is far more carefully managed.

He is not going to be put in with any dangerous MW and earn $10 million when he can be put in with Goolovkin and earn $40 million. So that rules out Jacobs for sure. Lemieux too. And probably Saunders although Saunders could win a 12 rounder 8-4 in Vegas or Texas and he's not getting a decision.

I'd expect him to go in with Wade, Rosario or someone on that level in May and then GGG in September , if at all.

Relevant sections from the original LA Times piece:

“I don’t know where he got 2018 from,” Loeffler said. “I told him [in 2015] that we had obligations for 2016 and once we did that, a fight with Ward would be realistic.

“No one could’ve predicted Canelo would then vacate his [WBC] belt or that Saunders, despite a very strong offer from us, would decide to do something else.”

Those moves triggered delays that could indeed postpone a Ward bout until 2018, though. Loeffler said his “clear path” for Golovkin is Jacobs, then Alvarez, then a possible move to 168 pounds, where champion Gilberto Ramirez of Mexico and the Jan. 14 winner of James DeGale-Badou Jack in Brooklyn would await.

“Ward is now two divisions ahead of Gennady. We also never said we wouldn’t fight him at 168 [pounds],” Loeffler said, referring to the super-middleweight limit.

Unbeaten Ward claimed three light-heavyweight belts on Nov. 19 by defeating Russia’s Sergey Kovalev by unanimous decision (114-113 on all three scorecards) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Loeffler said the fact there were empty seats in the arena underlines the fact that Oakland’s Ward can’t stage a bigger bout than against Golovkin, who has sold out Madison Square Garden, the Forum and London’s O2 arena in his three most recent bouts.

“Not taking anything away from Kovalev, but if [Ward] fights Gennady, it’d be sold out,” Loeffler said.

Gennady Golovkin’s promoter said Monday that “talks are continuing” for a mandatory middleweight title fight against Daniel Jacobs and there’s “a positive outlook” to striking a deal by early next month.
