  • Rematch should NOT be PPV!

    • If it only sold some 160K then I don't really see how they could justify putting this **** on PPV again

      • No wonder so many people didn't see a robbery. Hardly anybody saw the fight.

I don't know, Hearn didn't mention any numbers and truthfully we don't even know what official PPV numbers in the UK are since we usually go by whatever figure Hearn says.

The fact is Brook will be on PPV again probably against Spence and other future opponents..... Golovkin won't get on UK PPV unless he fights Eubank Jnr. Canelo vs Golovkin will be on regular sky or boxnation.

It's not a slight on Golovkin's drawing ability.... it's just facts that Brook was the reason why it was a PPV event. If Brook didn't take the fight then are you telling me that GGG would have still been on box office?? Brook vs Vargas was going to be on box office before it got scrapped.

That's the way it works here, people are interested in paying to see UK fighters. People are paying to see Joshua against the likes of Brezeale and Molina, it's not a stretch that they'd pay for Brook vs Golovkin. Golovkin is not a nobody but he's not a big star because he sold x amount of British PPVs against a UK fighter.

Without megastars like Conor and Ronda, boxing and UFC are pretty much neck and neck.
wait til you see the money the UFC will get their next TV contract...

The UK success of Brook/Golovkin wasn't just about Brook, it was synergistic. When Golovkin/Eubank looked like a done deal, it bumped Brook/Vargas off it's original date and got that fight knocked back a month. Brook's a bigger name than Eubank, but his fight got moved in favor of Golovkin/Eubank.

                • This shouldn't surprise anyone. Boxing is dead in America. It's a niche sport. Only Latinos watch it consistently. This fight really should have been on HBO. The only guys worthy of PPV these days are Pac and Canelo, maybe Cotto is he fights again.

Honestly Brook is a higher rated fighter than Eubank Jr but more known??? I don't know about that mate. The average guy on the streets of England is more likely to know who Eubank Jr is. Being the son of a legend is a big help. All my casual buddies know who Eubank Jr is but not all of them know who Brook is so I think we'll have to disagree on that.

There is nothing to suggest that a Eubank Jr vs Golovkin PPV would have been less successful than what we witnessed in September.

Eubank is still fighting domestic foes but once he starts fighting better opponents or manages to get a paper title you will see the difference.

Anyway Golovkin vs Brook was synergistic I agree but my original point was that the UK PPV numbers have no bearing on what a potential Canelo US PPV would do.

                    • In case they manage to make a rematch, they will put it on PPV again -- it can't do worse than the first time.
