Two completely different and not comparable situations.

I understand that the decision was unpopular, but using the word robbery to describe a fight that could reasonably be scored for the fighter who won is trying a bit too hard to discredit the decision. Comparing the decision to one of the least popular decisions of all time is in hilarious reach territory.

a robbery is a robbery. if a robber steals a million dollars do the police say well at least it wasnt 2 million like last week. it was a robbery because you cant reasonably score 7 roudns for ward. just wasnt there. maybe watching it live with al lthe distractions, emotion, commentaries, etc...you might get it wrong which is what im assuming happened with some of the press. they got suckered into the ward comeback story and his constant clinching made it seem closer than it actually was but rewatching it there is no excuse.

Only the poor biased mostly xenophobic dummygraphic claims that Ward won, or just really dumb people who let themself manipulate by the media.

no he didnt. he was backing up and on the end of kovalevs punhes for most of the fight but some people will see what they want to see. he simply couldnt get off unless he was hugging kovalev(illegal) but here we go again with people scoring illegal tactics as clean work, defense, ring generalship, etc...then they are telling us we dont know anything about boxing....
If that's your view of it, then yes, you don't know boxing.

Are you suggesting Kovalev won this fight 8-4 or something?

It would have been great if they gave Kovalev the win in the first fight. He won, whether or not it says so on the record.

Ward will likely be comfortable and cautious in the rematch. I think he is the favorite based on the nature of rematches and the advantage given to the more defensive fighter.

Instead of having a historic trilogy we will have kigali types spamming that he "tapped dat azz twice!"

These dream fights always end up ruined by boxing's inherently flawed judging format. Some fateful day the scoring guidelines will be more defined.

So true. At least, I wish judges were required to provide their rationale for awarding each round. Effective aggression? Ring generalship?? Crowd noise?? What floats your boat this time?

And I wish boxing had real champions. Note another thread today where someone asks who is the real heavyweight champion now. Truth is, we have no idea. There is no champion.

I really doubt that the Ward Kovalev rematch will produce a clear and obvious winner that we can all agree on.
