I have Ward and Kovalev #1 and #2 after this fight. Clearly shoulders above the rest as far as the post Mayweather/Pacquiao ERA going forward.

Basing that from the official decision only is an excuse not to think

No man clearly won last night, no matter mine or your opinion

It was refreshing and this sport really needed it.
              Good man. Solid post

P4P #2, without a doubt. He showed that he can hang in there and survive against the P4P king, while occasionally scoring some points. Unfortunately for him in this fight, (although not so unfortunate, evidently), his defense+offense wasn't enough to counter Kovalev's offense+defense, and Kovalev outboxed the boxer for the majority of the rounds.

Ward is legit #2 best boxer in the world. And I don't see anybody else at 175 beating him anytime soon. He would make Adonis look like absolutely clueless.

Even if he lost, he wouldn't really go down much.

I'm a big Ward fan and I thought he edged it, watched it a second time and had him winning 114-113.... originally had it 115-112 but on second viewing I gave Kovalev round 10.

But it was not the performance I hoped for and expected, I said the winner would be my P4P number 1 if the win was convincing/dominant. I don't think either guy has a case for that and I'm in favour of Gonzales staying as number 1.

I also think Ward dropped off, his defence is 90% of what it used to be but offensively he's like 70% or less. He showed he's still one of the best but to me he didn't look like the very best. I'd have him at number 2 and would not object to anyone that deemed him a non mover.

ward enters my top 5 pound for pound, and based on recent achievements and the way the fight went that is perhaps generous. I rate fighters on past 5 years achievements so 'beating' kovalev by 1 round in what many many news sites are calling a robbery, with the lederman card of 116-111 kovalev, cant be enough in anyones eyes to make ward p4p number 1 surely. bradley didnt suddenly get elevated up the p4p list for 'beating' pacquiao, so why should it be different with ward?
