So if khan canelo was a terrible fight, so was brook ggg. Little guy had quicker hands early got destroyed late right on scheduleComment

Another 5 rounds????I'm a former boxer myself and I've been watching fights since I was 3 y o, sitting on my dad's knee. GGG vs Brook was a great fight and no more of a mismatch than GGG vs Jacobs will be, or GGG vs Eubank Jnr would have been, if it had happened. GGG is just a hell of a good fighter, and too much for anybody his size, imo.
Brook took more flush shots from GGG than anybody else I've seen, except maybe Lemieux, over the course of their fight, and he didn't go down or get discouraged, despite not being able see properly for the last couple of rounds.
I actually think it was lucky for him that his eye socket got broke, or he would have still been in there going toe to toe for another 5 rounds, before GGG's strength and power wore him down, and that might have been worse for Kel's health, in the long term, than a fractured orbital bone.
You are so delusional, Brook had already started tiring and was fortunate that the knockdown in round 3 wasn't counted.
Just because Brook didn't get blasted out in one round 1 doesn't mean it wasn't a mismatch. Rosado lasted far longer than Geale and didn't get dropped but it doesn't change the fact he was far less qualified to share the ring with Golovkin. Khan lasted longer and did better than Kirkland against Canelo but it didn't mean it wasn't a massive mismatch that should not have happened.
Poor logic on your behalf man.Last edited by NaijaD; 11-18-2016, 10:41 AM.Comment

I think the rest of his career says otherwise. Ward never shies away from challenges. He may be a **** sometimes, but he ends up fighting high quality fighters.Trust me, if Ward could have carried on making $2million fighting bums that's exactly what he would have done, and we wouldn't be getting this fight now.
Remember, HBO pulled the plug on him and they only allowed him back on condition he agreed to fight Krusher.
Not even Roc would have allowed Andre to keep fighting Paul Smiths on BET for the money they were paying him!Comment

I didn't say it was a terrible fight!
But Khan had been KO'd by men his own size, and Canelo was about 20lbs heavier than him on the night. Brook was unbeaten and came into the ring heavier than GGG. So no doubt at all, GGG vs Brook was a better match up than Canelo vs Khan.
And Golovkin didn't avoid a MW challenger to fight Brook instead. He actually signed to fight Eubanbk Jnr, a top 5 MW, on that bill, remember.Comment

right you said ggg brook was a good match and despite weights it was a clear mismatch as is usually expected in a 2 weight class clash. It was a terrible fight but whatever I am super excited about the ward kovalev fight.I didn't say it was a terrible fight!

At one point I used to dislike BHop and Ward for obvious reasons. And let me clarify (since this place loves labeling people as racists) it's not cause of skin color. But eventually I opened my eyes and came to appreciate both guys. They are/were very good fighters and always fought the best. Unfortunately, some people can't get past their hateful views and appreciate certain fighters. Like I said in another thread and as the article says, some people wish boxing had more guys like BHop/Ward and even Kovalev in this case. Guys who aren't afraid to put everything on the line.
Kovalev knows he isn't a huge name and he knows the way boxing and its fans are nowadays, if he loses this fight this could be devastating to his career. But he's probably not thinking like that. He's probably thinking about the reward if he wins. What if he wins? This leads to much bigger things. And that's the mindset fighters need to have. Might not lead to better fighters than Ward but to more fame and more money.Comment

This thread is a prime example of why NSB is straight aids. A good article and the thread filled with bull****... for the most part... as usual.Comment

Here's my honest opinion on Ward:
He's a warrior, who will fight to win with everything he has, even to the extent of breaking rules, when the chips are down.
But he's also an extremely careful and calculating business man. I don't think Ward's heart is in boxing any more. I think he just made a rational, hard-headed business decision to accept the fight with Kovalev because there was too much money on the table to walk away from.
I think Ward is more risk/reward oriented than any other fighter in the sport. If he can make decent money, without risk to his health, that's what he's going to do.
Didn't he say himself that he doesn't give a damn what the fans think about who he fights and doesn't fight?Last edited by kafkod; 11-18-2016, 11:06 AM.Comment
