The thing about GGG - Ward however was that the window was vanishingly small - basically a short period in late 2015, before the outcome of Canelo / Cotto fight and long before Canelo moved to fight Khan. Ward was under his own time pressure to nail down the HBO contract which basically meant agreeing to fight Kovalev or Golovkin. Now I'm not saying Golovkin would have fought Ward anyway, but in the event K2 had a choice between a possible Canelo fight (or at very least the WBC strap) or a signed Ward fight. It's a judgement call. In the event it's not worked out great for them, but I'd be wary of second guessing what probably seemed like the smart choice at the time.

Nah I'm not one of the people that criticises Golovkin for the Ward fight not happening. That situation had too much he said she said bs for me to be remonstrating over it anymore.

I was simply reminding Kafkod that he swore Ward would never sign to fight Kovalev yet he had confidence that Canelo would fight Golovkin despite all the signs that were there of GB delaying the fight and trying to get unfair advantages from the get go. Golovkin has never openly or publicly entertained the idea of 155 but at the same time we don't know if there were actual serious negotiations where a definitive answer could have been given to the catchweight request.
