joe never took 5 years out of boxing, hiding away and fighting bums. Joe was as good as it gets in boxing, took on all comers and beat most of them without breaking a sweat. And he did it fairly and without fouling. kessler, lacy, roy jones, hopkins, eubank on his cv. Joe wasnt afraid of going abroad to fight either. like all european fighters, joes achievements get played down on this site

trust me i know more about joes career than anyone else on here does. joe had a lot of problems with injuries and he was heavily avoided by many fighters. he proved himself beyond any doubt in the last few years of his career

Calzaghe spent the vast majority of his career hiding away and fighting bums.

Ward beating Kovalev would move Ward clearly past Calzaghe, if he isn't past Joe already. Whatever criteria you want to go by, he would be better. Joe took on all comers, huh? Ward has beaten more ranked fighters than Calzaghe did, so Ward has taken on all comers more often. He has also beaten all but one of them without breaking a sweat.

Want to go by name value and ignore rankings? Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Bika, and Dawson is a list at 168 that Calzaghe can't match. Add in Kovalev to that and Ward would have arguably the best win at LHW between the two as well. Roy was shot to ****, and he arguably didn't even beat old Hopkins, though I'll give you old Hopkins as a pretty good win. Dawson and Kovalev both whipped his ass as well, but that's okay.

It would be very clear who the greater fighter is if Ward wins this weekend. Calzaghe was a very good fighter and might have beaten Ward, but his actual in-ring accomplishments would not be better. They may not be better right now.

In 46 fights did he beat even 6 top 10 contenders=NO!!!!

so please explain how Ward beating Kovalev would not make him greater then Joe when Ward in the Super 6 alone beat more top contenders then Joe did in his entire damn career
