the myth of bernard hopkins

lol, yeah I'll just go grab Armed and Dangerous from back then, put him in a time machine, and bring him to three years ago so he could wipe his arse with Macklin. Seriously though, most people don't remember the sentiment of the time that Allen had just as much to do with Hopkins not climbing back into the ring, as the supposedly injured ankle. Allen was looking real sharp through three and a half rounds. He didn't seem to be getting the worst of it. I think a few of you are just too young, or don't know any better. The Allen from the third fight is past it and shopworn, a totally different guy than the guy from the first Hopkins fight.Comment

I don't ever remember Carlos Monzon or Marvelous Marvin Hagler thinking about moving up above 160. Bernard Hopkins did the same thing for a long time as well. Gennady Golovkin seems to be doing the same thing, but none of the champions have been so eager to match-up with him, for whatever the reasons.
This is one of the two original weight classes. 160 and below and heavyweight. I think that they are amongst the best of the best, to maintain that weight for years and to reign with an iron fist.Comment
