That is not what happened. GYM called for an immediate purse bid because of his past dealings with Main Events not being able to secure a deal & Duva being Duva. Kovalev didn't even have an HBO deal when they bid was called.If Haymon's plan was to win a purse bid and hope that Golovkin would have to vacate, then he would've immediately requested a purse bid. That's exactly what they did with the Stevenson/Kovalev situation. Main Events talked with GYM about delaying the purse bid so that Kovalev could take care of his IBF mando first, but GYM/Haymon requested an early purse bid.Comment

I have not made any comment re the $10 million for Canelo other than to say that it is impossible to know the merits of the offer without seeing the details.
For example, is the $10 million secured by bank guarantee (or similar)?
Also, will both fighters be subject to testing?
As for Jacobs, I agree that he should be paid more than what he got for Mora but anything like "2 Quillins" is ludicrous as it will almost certainly result in "the draw" (such as he is lol) & champion making less than 50%

The hell with that guy. He thinks that Showtime/PBC will bid over $5mill to have Golovkin come on to their network, KO Jacobs and leave back to HBO. And if Haymon was convinced that Golovkin would simply vacate if they did win the bid, then Haymon would've order the damn bid already. Not the same thing. Maidana came off a big win and was ready for a big payday. Maidana would still be getting big fights even if he lost to Mayweather. Maidana had no leverage against Mayweather because Mayweather did not have to fight Maidana. Maidana took the risk that he could perform well against Mayweather, even if he lost and be getting paid more after the fight, if he fights well because people will want to see him fight again.Both sides? From what I see its Jacobs team who's asking the WBA to change their rules because they're not happy with the mandated split.
How much does Jacobs actually think he's worth? I wonder what that "magic number" is that would satisfy him so that he takes the fight. Jacobs is asking for more money than many of Floyd's opponents made fighting him. Maidana only made $3mil in each of his fights vs Floyd.
I don't blame Jacobs because he doesn't have to time to rebuild his career after this fight. If he loses this fight then he will probably never get another big fight.Comment
