I've watched a few videos of Kovalev and GGG working out in the gym, and here's something I've noticed - whenever I've seen GGG doing S and C work, he'll always be doing it as part of a squad, all his gym mates, all doing the same routines, with Abel in charge. GGG may be Abel's star pupil, but he seems happy just being one of the guys too.

I've never seen Kovalev working out as part of a squad like that. He always seems to on his own, except for JDS or some other guy helping him. And he does strange things in the gym I've never seen boxers do before - like wrestling in the ring, dancing around bouncing balls off the floor while practicing footwork. I've also seen him doing rounds with what looks like a ping-pong ball on a length of elastic strapped to his head, and he'll be batting it around, again, while practicing footwork moves.

GGG has only ever done boxing, but Kovalev was into other martial arts when he was younger. It's possible he has his own ideas of what he needs to do to keep in shape, and insists on using his own routines and excercises, rather than the ones his coach favours, whereas GGG is happy to let his coach dictate that kind of work to him.

nah, that makes him pretty silly according to world standards

          Sanchez is an absolute asshat

he became an utter clown when he denied demanding a 164lb catchweight from Andre Ward despite the fact that the internet is full of video evidence confirming the contrary

Dirty Sanchez just proudly admitted that he let a top P4P fighter slip through his fingers..... he wouldn't know a good fighter if Sergey punched him in the face.

His reasons make sense to me. He wants to enjoy what he is doing and thinks training a great but independent and strong willed and stubborn boxer like Kovalev would not be fun. Jackson also said Kovalev wasn't easy to train but Jackson thinks Kovalev is well worth any extra difficulties.Jackson and Kovalev are a perfect fit.

That makes sense and may well be true.

Abel may be one of the more overrated trainers in the sport right now

I'm not buying all this biz, Abel keeps talking like he thinks he made Kovalev the fighters he is today... yet he let him go? Doesn't add up. He basically admitted he doesn't have the common sense of a rock to let go a fighter he himself said would be champ one day. SMH

I looked for it but it isn't available anymore. It was on the Bad Culture podcast in April 2015. It isn't archived. The manager of Mohammedi spoke about it. His name is Vince Caruso.
