According to the same sources, Canelo only outsold Ggg Lemieux 2x. Remember the 97k guy had Canelo at barely over 200k. That already makes flat fee a non starter.

And since Lemieux, Canelo has lost a belt, a ton of respect, and apparently a lot of fan interest. Ggg is always gaining OTOH.

LOL that's quite the spin. It wasn't up to Golovkin when Canelo dropped the belt when Golovkin was mandatory after Canelo reneged on the deal to fight after his extension he requested. It wasn't up to Golovkin when Canelo said he won't be ready until September 2017. And now of course it's "here is my offer. It may be a rip-off knowing how massive this fight will be but it's an offer, it's your fault if you don't want it!" What a clown.
lol two can play that game. First it was the weight, money be damned! "THIS IS FOR LEGACY ALL THE BELTS!! GO GGG!!!" dis box, not game, canelo- khan dis bisniz fight. Now its 160 and "I just need to see the right money"

Next thing you know K2 will want the fight at MSG

Mate, give it up as you are either dealing with a troll or somebody that has the mental capacity of roadkill

It's simply a waste of time presenting facts to them

Ohhhhh....so you don't understand that ppv upside and percentage split is two different things. Ok. Go learn the difference and come back.

I know man, I was around when Floyd made his infamous 40m flat offer. Dissertations were written how it was a fair and generous offer. Some of these chumps still won't admit how ridiculously wrong they were lol.

              • It's a terrible deal.

You have to look at the deal they offered first. Why are they offering him $10M in the first place? They could easily offer him $5M and say this is the most you've ever gotten.

It's because they know the potential of this fight. They know it's going to sell a lot of PPV's, probably will crack a million and they want to collect all that revenue and give him nothing but a flat fee for a fight that could generate $65M.

It's obvious that fans aren't just going to purchase the fight to watch Canelo. He's the A-Side, but it's the matchup that is the selling point. Golovkin contributes to that. If Canelo was the star he'd be able to do over 1M without Golovkin. He did 300K against Liam Smith...

Ppv upside is included in any kind of percentage split. If it's 100/0 split, it's automatically no ppv upside. The converse is not necessarily true but in practice it is. Same thing bud, we all know what this means

Tell us your estimates on the following:

                    1. Number of ppv buys
                    2. Total revenue
                    3. Total purse money.

According to Gbp, he did just short of 300k vs Smith. According to Rick Glaser, much quoted by the Ggg hate trolls, he barely did over 200k
