From about 2011 on, Lara has shown that he is a top-level fighter at 154, and one of the best sheer fighters in the sport.

Golovkin has had 36 fights, his sturdiest test among those fights was likely against welterweight champion Kell Brook, and Golovkin was letting shots bounce of his face throughout most of the fight.

When you don't sit in front of Golovkin and let him tee off, he's shown himself to be an okay fighter who blocks stuff with his face; do that type of **** against a proven fighter like Erislandy Lara (who would walk into the ring for said fight likely near 170lbs) and the stage is set for Golovkin to get routed.
....but he lets himself get hit doe.

...when he fights somebody with power he turns into Willie Pep.

    Haven't you heard?

GGG is the only guy in the history of boxing that doesn't have to work on defense...he just switches it on and off like a light depending to the punching power of the overmatched opponent.

    You better inform yourself.

he'd break lara down eventually. He could probably outbox lara too. Both fighters were world amateur champs, GGG was also an olympic silver medal. If people think the first time he comes up against a pure boxer hes going to get 'exposed' then they are going to be pretty dissapointed.

someone who actually understands boxing ^. would be interesting to see what people would say if someone like angulo dropped GGG twice in a fight? Or if 17-4 carlos molina drew with him. Hell, people say he got exposed cause brook landed an uppercut lol

Next you'll be telling us that GGG is actually 24 instead of 34.

Lara career is on this point because he wanted, the same with Rigondeaux, he is just to conservative to be a pro boxing star, what a shame because he has lots of skill.
But there is no way Golovkin is ducking him, he isn't a middleweight, but would been the biggest victory of GGG that's for sure.

                Golovkin fought Brook.... Fact

                WBA Super: elevated
                WBC: gifted
                IBF: Lemieux...
                IBO

                Let's look at Lara

                WBA Super: elevated from Floyd
                IBO

Lara has a draw with Carlos Molina: Fact

Lara was robbed PW, ''draw'' with Vanes, ''robbed'' Alvarez (debatable)

ironically both have controversialism to their names...

There are levels to this game...
don'T wearout ''levels to this game'' casually...

Golovkin has been drilling that face first, open shell, "Mexican style" stuff for nearly six years now. You add that Abel Sanchez coaches next to nothing about slickness/boxing, and if you honestly think that Golovkin simply remember old habits after not utilizing them for 6 years, you're setting yourself up for failure.

Erislandy Lara is the significantly longer man (74" vs 70"), is southpaw, can fight going forwards/backwards, has real good pop in that left when he sits down, and is a damn near perfect fighter from range (Golovkin not being all that comfortable fighting on the inside, where Alvarez and Angulo were able to have their successes, puts another issue into the pot for Golovkin to work through). You add that Lara isn't going to fold up on the first shot, and it becomes even more obvious why K2 tries to act as if Lara doesn't even exist.

Max Kellerman actually said GGG has unusually long arms

wouldnt be shocked if he did fold up from the first shot tbh, hes not a middleweight, brook wasnt a middleweight, and as soon as brook got hit clean he got wobbled in round 1. If canelo (the guy with the worst footwork in boxing) managed to close the distance on lara, GGG would be on him like a rash
