Zab retires a former Lineal champ with a good resume. As funny as it may seem, at least he got up from a flash only to yell at a red, lose balance, and then have the ref take that personally and waive off the fight. It is funny actually

Very true. Zab had a greater career than most guys could ever dream of & even for a title holder he achieved more than most with being the legit #1 guy in his division, if only for a short time.

That said I do feel like there was an aura of bigger things being in store for Zab at one time than he achieved so there is some relativity to these types of threads for certain guys & I think Zab is one of those types of guys.

There's always "what if's". Intersections that fate never crossed. I guess I'm not a person that looks at things that way. I tend to look at how far they've come, despite the odds and the other boxers fighting against them.

Nope man, there are many fighters about whom nobody say "what if" it mostly is done to guys who had talent a great talent, but i agree that he still achived much in boxing, but under achived IMO.

He lacked mental focus..you can have all the talent in the world but if you dont have it upstairs you will never be great

Why on earth bring Froch into it? No-one rates Carl as an ATG, not even himself.

They are actually pretty polar opposites as fighters - Judah had speed, agility, talent, no heart and a weak-assed chin. Froch had no speed, no agility, little talent, a granite chin and the most desire of about any fighter of the past 20 years.

In short, Judah was a talented, flash c*nt who couldn't hack it at the very, very top. Like Broner, the Dirrells and a whole bunch of American fighters who have the talent but not the guts or focus to be #1.

When faced with adversity he was as likely to fold as rise to the occasion. That's how a lesser fighter like Baldomir beat him. It's why he b*tched out against Khan. He also lacked the focus to compete at a consistently high level.
