    I've noticed this too. It's almost like the UFC hype machine is too good, and because a fight in MMA can end in an instant the "big" fighters fight way more carefully than the undercard guys going in with something to prove.

    Boxing has fights like this too, but in boxing they're still standing and throwing punches when the fight becomes defensive and technical.

        Boxing fans are unbelievably patient, at least the real ones. They would not stop hoping that good matchups will eventually happen; the best will eventually fight the best. Fans have been gobbling up whatever they are fed and assume good fights will come eventually.

        I don't equate boxing to UFC. They're different to me.

          Haymon following the UFC model was just something short-sighted people said because they always need something to compare it to. He's not and the UFC "model" isn't the way, the truth and the light. Plenty of ways to skin a cat.
