The best fight the best in boxing with the same frequency as the UFC guys...

THey put on around 3-4 big shows a year...same with boxing.

We've had Porter vs Thurman. We're getting Loma vs Walters and Kovalev vs Ward.

UFC just had MW Champ bisping go life and death with a washed up, 45 year old, out the the top 10 fighter in Dan Henderson.

That's not the best fighting the best....

well ive got to disagree, im sure i see more competitive and big fights on a regular basis with UFC. ANd the cards are much more stacked thats for sure. Bispings a good example of what i was talking about, regularly fights top fighters and even with many losses hes still fought himself back to be champ.

There's no reason you can't be a fan of both if you enjoy them. Boxing just kicks you in the teeth too many times with it's bull ****.

I honestly view them as two separate sports rather than being in direct competition with each other. UFC has already grown very popular and I know far more people that watch UFC than boxing. But these people weren't watching boxing in the first place. Most of these people (the ones I know) are just wanting to see some violence and are casual fans who show up at friends homes to drink and see whoever is fighting that night. Maybe they know them, maybe they dont. The outcomes dont matter much, just the show. Cool. Fair enough. Not for me, but I understand the appeal. I enjoy watching great fighters careers unfold for many years. 40 or 50 fights over a decade or more. In UFC you have guys who were names at one point with horrendous records by the end. Randy Couture ended up 19-11. Chuck Liddell was 21-8. Rampage is 37-11. Dan Henderson was 32-15. I get that its is because they are put in tough at the UFC, but it makes for very short careers at the top. Then they become names to feed to the next guy. That doesn't interest me. Plus Dana. He basically treats his fighters like ******.

Boxing will never die. But we all know it's a piece of **** right now. Boxing will always be my favorite combat sport to watch even though I'm watching way more UFC right about now. They're killing while boxing is killing itself. Smfh I'll never stop watching boxing but the fan base for the UFC is growing and growing. And it's not growing the same way for boxing. It'll never die like I said but it's losing a lot of ground everyday.

I am a boxing fan first and always. The MMA fighters have improved a lot an I enjoy some MMA fights. They can be very exciting and brutal fights and I can understand how boxing could lose some fans to MMA. If it happens so be it. Both sports will still exist for fans to watch one or the other or both. I will continue to watch and enjoy both sports. As far as the best fighting the best goes there is a major difference between the two sports. In boxing the fighters have independence and power. They are free to make their own choices on who they fight and promoters can't make them fight anybody. They probably average making 10 or 20 times as much money per fight compared to MMA fighters. In the MMA promoters like White have all the power. They order the fighters who to fight. The fighters either do as they are told or leave that organization. They can't just say no I won't fight that guy. They would no longer get any fights at all.

I've yet to have anyone explain to me how the UFC's biggest ever gate is 55,000+ from UFC 129 headlined by GSP, Jose Aldo, and Lyoto Machida in 2011 brought in only 3,000+ more fans than a Canelo vs Liam Smith PPV that sold 52,000 month or so ago.

UFC 129 had a $12M gate. Below is the list of remaining largest gates in UFC history.

                      UFC 194 (Aldo vs. McGregor) - $10,006,249
UFC 196 (McGregor vs. Diaz) - $8,100,000 (approx.)
                      UFC 189 (McGregor vs. Mendes) - $7,201,648
UFC 148 (Silva vs. Sonnen II) - $6,901,655
UFC 168 (Weidman vs. Silva II) - $6,238,792.50
