lol, he would get eaten alive. Ward isn't forced to stand there and eat shots. He can easily tie a guy up and grind him down. Kovalev does not have a dirty boxing game and is not going to suddenly develop one capable of out-working Andre Ward in the clinch. Kovalev MUST maintain distance and prevent Ward from tying him up. That means picking his shots, not just launching a barrage.

Ward has one of the highest defense ratios in the sport so throwing recklessly at him means you will tire yourself quickly. Kovalev's success will be in well-placed shots set-up by feints. He's already excellent at that and it's basically his bread and butter.

If Ward sits down on his punches he can surely do some damage, if he wants to be a puncher he can be a puncher.

I'm rooting for Kovalev but my gut tells me Ward will find a way to neutralize and outbox him. If you had asked me a year ago, I would've definitely picked Kovalev. Ward has done his preparation and has grown into the weight class. I hope I'm wrong and Kovalev humbles Ward and his vanity. We'll see
That "he needs to be humbled" **** goes all the way back to Jack Johnson's era.

        It's creepy.

There is only one group of fighters that need to be humbled for some weird reason.

Just say you want that n8gger to lose and be done with it...be a man.

Yeah, it sounds crude but its the best way for him to approach it. People said same things against mayweather, 'youve got to pay him respect, or youll get countered if you come straight in'. Well canelo paid him respect and lost pretty much every round, maidana paid him no respect what so ever and threw a volume of punches and came very close to beating him. Mayweather/ward are obviously very different but i think kovalev cant be 'picking' his shots, he has to throw a volume of punches and hard punches at that.

Kovalev doesn't have the stamina to pull that off...especially while he's getting countered and followed out when he tries to back away.

whats wrong with his stamina? He might only have to do it for a few rounds anyway, whos to say that wards going to make it to round 12?

^Amen. You have, perhaps the most humble, soft spoken man in boxing. A guy who pisses off promoters because he won't talk shyt. A guy who has asked reporters not to talk about Sanchez because he doesn't want to give attention to that kind of negativity.

Drives these folks CRAZY that this black boy would act like a white man and speak with intelligence and articulation. The arrogant bastard. Let's hope the arian humbles him and reverts him back into a comical, simple, and entertaining figure.

I hate talking about racial issues on here but at some point you can no longer ignore the elephant in the room.

It's pretty obvious these guys are racists who get brave online. I've even been frustrated with how nice Ward is, I wish he'd call Golovkin a Coward.
