Why Does Danny Jacobs Fear Greatness?

Disclaimer: what he did was phenomenal. He overcame cancer and established himself as a top middleweight. I have nothing but respect for Jacobs and the obstacles he's overcome. BUT......

After obliterating Peter Quillin in one round, the cancer excuse is off the table. This dude can fight and is at the top of his game.

Let's look at the reality of the situation. He has a meaningless WBA participation ribbon, and is basically the mandatory challenger to fight one of the five best fighters in the world in a fight that will sell out any venue in NY within hours.

Jacobs has an opportunity that you dream about as a kid in the boxing gym, with a pair of gloves bigger than your head and your tank top down to your knees. A win would make him legendary. He will be one of the biggest stars in boxing.

This is Jacobs MayweatherCorralles, PAC/Barrera, Rigo/Donaire moment. Why is he creating these barriers to achieve greatness? Trying to change the WBA rule book? Demanding crazy money? Dude, you a challenger getting challenger pay cuts. You gotta earn the big pay days.!!!!

The GGG fight will be the highest payday of his career and a W will lead to major paydays. What is there to lose here besides the fight?

I'm not a Jacobs fan or anything, but I really think it's about the money. It's potentially the most profitable thing he'll ever do. I'd go after every last dime.

I don't think he's "afraid". I think he pretty much acknowledges that he has very little chance of beating Golovkin, and that he'll most likely take a pretty good beating for this troubles. Hence, he wants to be paid handsomely for it.

Business wise I get it and I don't blame him for wanting more money. However, he's not helping his legacy by holding out for such. This is the same guy that said "racism" was the reason he wasn't a star. Well, pulling some shit like this could prevent him from becoming a star.

I don't think he's afraid. Call me a naive optimist, but I do believe it's just a negotiating tactic, and he will agree to a deal this/next week.

I really hope this fight happens, maybe Jacobs doesn't want to get KTFO in his home town. I don't know.
