Well, I think most of us would agree that it's a bad tactic. Cause if he keeps holding out and it goes to purse bid then he will most likely get less than what he was being offered. Loeffler already tried to push for the bid so they ain't bending backwards for anything Jacobs demands.

That's if it goes to purse bid. If he negotiates in good faith he can get 40 maybe

            GolovKing will fill it up.

I voted he is just afraid to fight GGG. I think this poll is too early. Jacobs still has time to say yes he will fight GGG for a 75/25 split in GGG's favor. That would prove he is a fearless champion who is ready to fight to hold onto his title and try to take GGG's other titles. That's a golden opportunity for a boxer who believes in himself. If he beats GGG he can start making some real big money from that point on. If he gives up his title it seems to me he would be doing exactly what Canelo did and in his case it makes him look much more afraid than Canelo. Canelo didn't really need the WBC middleweight title. Canelo makes big money without it and he just won another title at 154. Jacobs needs that title because it is all he has to make top dollar. He can't go down to 154 and win a new title and he isn't a big draw like Canelo. All he could do would be to try to get a fight with Saunders for Saunders's belt.

I don't think he "fears" greatness, I just think it's about the money. When you make 1.5M to fight a Quillin and then they are trying to throw the same if not less money to take on a more dangerous opponent then why would you take that offer. Who else is he gonna fight after that to earn more money? This will probably be the biggest purse of his career

Nice poll, it has to be one of the 4 options listed, though I'm not 100% sure about which one it is. However, Jacobs doesn't seem to be particularly excited about getting the opportunity he has been presented with. He is getting the chance to become a unified world champion and #1 middleweight in the world, with the guarantee of huge paydays in the future if he wins, all things that you would think would be every boxers' childhood dream.

Jacobs' has not pursued this fight since winning the WBA regular belt in 2014 and since then has been vague about what it would take to get him to fight Golovkin. Whenever he talks about it, it seems like he sees it as a chore which he must be compensated for, rather than an opportunity for him and his opponent to elevate themselves.

We will know his reasons as the October 22 deadline gets closer.

After obliterating Peter Quillin in one round, the cancer excuse is off the table. This dude can fight and is at the top of his game.

Let's look at the reality of the situation. He has a meaningless WBA participation ribbon, and is basically the mandatory challenger to fight one of the five best fighters in the world in a fight that will sell out any venue in NY within hours.

Jacobs has an opportunity that you dream about as a kid in the boxing gym, with a pair of gloves bigger than your head and your tank top down to your knees. A win would make him legendary. He will be one of the biggest stars in boxing.

This is Jacobs MayweatherCorralles, PAC/Barrera, Rigo/Donaire moment. Why is he creating these barriers to achieve greatness? Trying to change the WBA rule book? Demanding crazy money? Dude, you a challenger getting challenger pay cuts. You gotta earn the big pay days.!!!!
A better question is why does GGG fear greatness.
He turned down 10 million to fight Alvarez.
