What don't you understand about Stevenson was on board to fight Kovalev, but HBO being as cheap as they are today back then, refused to match Showtime's offer after given a billion chances.

* the fact stevenson coudnt make a fight with pascal , hopkin and kolv and fought bums instead show that he just wanted pay day instead

Yeah, no matter whose fault it was, Stevenson consistently fights guys he knows he can beat. I think he's just a bully with a big left hand. Fonfara took him the distance and gave him all kinds of trouble. And Fonfara can be jacked as we saw. I don't know. Stevenson just doesn't impress me. Kovalev has more skill in the ring.

It was a tune-up vs a guy straight off FNF. Hbo wasn't gonna be nickel and dimed for that. Stevenson's ratings and gate promptly took a dive since that business decision

Stevenson looked like a duck because he's the only one who demanded huge money from the fight, while Kovalev seemed content whatever amount he will get from it. Have you ever heard Kovalev screaming, "I want millions of dollars from this fight!!"

Joking aside-- There were talks about Stevenson fighting Kovalev but Stevenson's team backed out because they wanted to fight Hopkins for more money. How Kovalev got the fight with Hopkins and not Stevenson is the mystery to me.
