Is there any middleweight in history who could go toe to toe with GGG and beat him?

Interesting question. I think back in the day U.S. fighters were hungrier. They're not as motivated today. Sign of the times really and the Russians may be taking over that role today.

I'm not American.... most of the fighters mentioned from the past are established hall of famers so it's not hard to why they are thought of as better. Of the US fighters today right now only Ward and Crawford look like making the hall of fame.

I prefer to stay out of the Russia/soviet/eastern EU vs US thing, I wanted Postol to beat Crawford but I'm fully behind Ward against Kovalev. As for who's better right now in general? I see more talent on the soviet side but are the very best soviet products (as you call them) better than the very best US fighters? Hard to say but November 19th will go a long way to helping us find out.

... Well: you say that, back then, the U.S. fighters were hungrier (!?!)... but... the Russians weren't they as hungrier as the U.S. ones ... ... based on what, tbh?...

I personally think Tommy Hearns would handle him like Roberto Duran due to stylistic reasons.
you think he could go toe to toe with GGG with his chin? honest question

Out of curiosity, if GGG is such a beast fighting toe to toe then why did he resort to outboxing Pepe La Pew?

... I wasn't rooting for Postol vs Crawford -- I usually don't support Ukrainians, because they don't fully share the "Russian school" tradition...

... As about Kovalev vs Ward, I still don't express my thoughts here -- as I do not use to predict actual fights.

Tommy Hearns would knock the fork out of GGG. Tommy would destroy him. If Brooks was able to land his bull**** righthand right on spot, Tommy would land it much better. Tommy had more power then Brook. Brook had no problem catching him wit the righthand especially that straight right that was tommys signature...Tommy by 4 round KO!
