Broner was considered the next great american, future P4P king and was undefeated because he was fighting people smaller than him. When he moved up and started fighting people his own size, he struggled to say the least.
Andre ward was a light heavyweight as a young amateur. People usually go up in weight after the amateurs as they naturally grow, ward has gone down, At supermiddleweight, ward was able to bully opponents, Carl 'Cobra' Froch even commented on how physically strong ward was.
Only now is ward fighting at his natural weight class, which is light heavyweight. Although ward is pretty sizeable at the weight, he cant really push people about who are smaller than him (although he has tried his best to fight smaller men even at his new weight- alexander brand and paul smith who are super middleweights). So my question is, now andre ward is fighting people his own size, is he going to start struggling?
But froch also said that he had no chance of beating ward unless he could improve his technical abilities. It strange how you forgot that or choose to leave it out. Ward actually is a highly skilled technician no matter how hard folks try to discredit him or say he only wins because he fighting smaller guys or he head butts his way to victory. Don't ever mention ward and broner I'm the same sentence. Ward is humble and proves his. Broner can talk it But can't walk it.

I see your point, man. Anyone who is highly touted can be overrated obviously. Broner definitely was. I think Broner has a lot of talent. Don't get me wrong, but he's really done nothing with it and his outside the ring antics have helped to hurt him greatly.

As for Ward, he's higher up the totem pole than Broner of course. I don't just say that because he's still undefeated. He is a legitimately better fighter IMO. He also has much more discipline than Broner outside the ring which we all know definitely plays a factor in a fighter's career. If Broner had the discipline Ward has, he could probably be in a much better position in his career now, but things happen.

I don't expect Ward to get exposed by Kovalev. I do think he will lose to Kovalev but in a competitive fight that could very well go the distance, despite Kovalev's power. But this is a 50/50 fight where either guy has a good chance of losing. If Ward won, it wouldn't surprise me either. I honestly don't believe he's a hype job. His win over Froch was highly credible for me. And yes, he took easy fights with Barrera and Brand but he was pretty damn dominant in them too. An exceptional fighter will not only beat a decent fighter. He'll make it look like anybody could do it, which is what Ward did. So I think he's no Broner. And get excited, because this won't be Maidana-Broner which, while so much fun, was kind of like, eh...Broner ain't that much after the fight. In this fight, both guys are coming in to bring it and both with high skill levels. I don't see either man leaving ashamed. This is the best thing for boxing. I'm hoping the winner gets more star power when it's all said and done.

In closing, I see the point you are trying to make and I'm not going to hate on you for it. You have your opinion and viewpoint and it goes against the grain. That's fine with me. I don't consider this trolling at all. A lot of the BS insults need to stop. When such a backlash happens, it makes me wonder if you might be right and have struck a nerve with those who think it might be true in the back of their minds. If they just think you're absolutely off base, they should say that, instead of getting so aggressive over one negative word about Ward.

No, I would have agreed because Broner looked very vulnerable at his best. Adrien Broner while at his best picking on small fighters struggled with poor fighters and never looked as good as Ward did against excellent competition like Froch and Kessler.

This thread is completely ****ing ridiculous.

Broner was waiting to get exposed by fighters his own size because he very clearly relied on his size to win fights. Ward does not, and is a hell of a lot more proven than Broner was before he lost.

Give it up, man. You are ridiculously wrong here. He won't lose to light heavyweights because he ran into fighter his own size.
