The only reason Ward moved up is because he no longer could make weight, also the only reason he is fighting Kovalev is because HBO is putting the pressure, because ward was making smaller men come up or fighting bums, and he was content with that, after the super 6 he has not fought anyone of interest or a top 10 fighter on his weight-class, if it where for him, he still would have been fighting tune up fights, HBO knew that and they where not going to keep on wasting money on him fighting weak opposition.

Are you serious? Both Ramirez and, especially, Degale would be much bigger fights financially than Kovalev.

And no weak ass scenarios, hypotheticals, or assumptions are necessary to reach the conclusion that Ward can't make 168 any more. He hasn't made that weight in 3 years and both he and his trainer have stated that he can't do it any more.

But yeah, if GGG had signed a contract last year agreeing to fight Ward around about now, then GGG's signature on a peice of paper would have had some mysterious and miraculous effect on Andre's body ... blah blah ...

According to Sr., he is not good with GGG fighting a smaller man but he is okay with Ward if he fought the smaller man in GGG? He should at least be consistent either liking or disliking both scenarios.

GGG is 34! Go look at who Hopkins, Oscar, Mayweather, and Pacquiao had done by the time they were 34!

Well Hopkins hadn't unified his title at age 34,and didn't move up in weight until age 42.Hopkins fought Joppy and Holmes who weren't exactly hall of famers but competent champions,about the same level as Danny Jacobs who Golovkin fights next to unify with.Hopkins best wins following this were two very good natural welterweights and ot was years before he moved up.So the parallels at this point are pretty close.Like I say,why the premature judgment about rising in weight ?

Hunter didn't say he could get Ward to 168.

If Ward could have made 168 after coming back he would have stayed there and defended his title, instead of relinquishing it and starting training to be a full time LHW. Ward IS a fucking LHW!

Obviously, he could make 168 if he wanted to - like Kovalev said recently, he could make 168 or even 160 if wanted to, but whether he could then beat top fighters at 168 or 160 is something else.

The more sensible fans should be getting tired of these Golovkin vs Ward threads. They're sickening. We know they're never going to fight because of weight issues. Ward should be getting triple the hate Golovkin gets because he should have ended it a long time ago by simply admitting he can no longer make the weight.
