Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Ward Fight Impossible - He Couldn't Make 168!

Ward wasn't at 168 in 2015 -- he was at 172, as we all know...
... and glad that you provided link to this article... because it clearly shows what was the "weight issue"... read carefully:
<< Ward returned last month after being away from the ring since November of 2013. He stopped Paul Smith in the ninth round of a fight which took place at 172-pounds. If Ward puts together a few good wins and gets the buzz going again, Golovkin's position on the weight might have some wiggle room. "That's something that would be a discussion amongst the team. And if we all came to the consensus that it was the right thing to do, at that point, then yes [we'd consider budging on the weight]. But right now, as it stands, he has to come to 164 if he wants to fight Gennady," Sanchez said.>>
What about the last sentence???...

We already know this but its ****** how both Ward and Sanchez keep bringing this up. Its a dead issue and unless there's a secret plan for Golovkin to move up and fight Ward its time for both sides to drop this crap already.Comment

Actually I followed what Ward said he would do...
... After beating Smith, he said he would like to fight GGG first and then go after Kovalev... (At that point, GGG was the mandatory of Ward's stablemate, Cotto).Comment

You didn't really refute what the previous poster said. If anything you reinforced what everyone knew but few Golovkin fans would admit. Team GGG felt the fight was too high risk at 168 for what the projected money they would make off the fight. As such they floated 164 out there to see if Ward would bite.Ward wasn't at 168 in 2015 -- he was at 172, as we all know...

In 2016 Ward has moved up to 175 and has a hugely important fight scheduled with Sergey Kovalev.
He's got bigger fish to fry and doesn't have time for all the excuses from Team Lil G.
Do you have any source for this alleged PED use? Or are you just making things up with no evidence?Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 09-30-2016, 09:32 AM.Comment

He was willing to make 168 for a fight with your guy last year y'all didn't want it until 2017 possibly so he moved on... Let it go Sanchez doing a big disservice to triple G especially when y'all wanted fight at 164Comment
