This is GREAT news! R.I.P. to the PPV fight! If I wasn't a fan of Andre Ward, I would say what I said about Alvarez vs. Smith...BOYCOTT! This is how the Alvarez vs. Golovkin fight gets made! Stop supporting fights with Dominic Wade, Kell Brook, and Liam Smith!

Now I could believe that 200K, not 300K or 62k thrown around by his promoters or the haters.

I'm glad it didn't sell, although if anything I wish it had been the Khan fight that did this badly. Khan more known to the US fans, so I understand it, but that fight was less legit than the Smith one.

******* boy told us Smith was the best 154 lb in boxing.... Now telling us 300k are good numbers for PPvs and that Canelo by himself carried the card..... So less than 300 buys for the best 154 lbs vs Canelo ? Which is it Oscar ? Get your lies straight... Was he a bum and you lied to us or the the "best " only generated 300k ?

Sure he may be the biggest draw in boxing right now outside of maybe Pacquiao...but it is nothing amazing about his drawing power....Boxing is in a very bad state right now..
People know he's a fraud. With the Internet today, you can't lie your way around to avoid fights.

...if they knew the fight wasn't going to sell becausr of the state of PPV, and/or because people didnt know Smith...why make the fight? Just can't believe what Oscar and Canelo say...they're out to take your last dollar.

When the numbers come in, they always claim to be pleased or happy with the numbers. In previous articles, they expected 1 million buys for the Khan fight and it was half of that. For this fight, they expected huge numbers. Articles I read insinuted that meant a million buys, but it was no where near and I don't think 250-300 thousand buys would be considered huge if you are the face of boxing. Anyways, I'm sure they turned a profit, just not as much as expected. Better fights will produce bigger profits.
