... or they'll just say here's the $10m offer or not fight; we'll angle for Saunders in May and the Cotto rematch in September, before heading out to pick off fights against Chris Eubank Jr and Andy Lee (among others) as you languish on working through Tureano Johnson, Jorge Sebastian Heiland, and whatever other mandatories that come up, on regular HBO.

Alvarez doesn't have to fight Gennady Golovkin; Golovkin's only chance at getting any kind of box office acclaim at this point is a fight with Alvarez (or a fight with Sergey Kovalev were Ward to beat him; even that fight won't really move the starpower needle all that much).

Why folks continue to act as if Alvarez has to fight Golovkin is beyond me.

One guy is making $2m per fight; the other guy is making $20m per fight.

      Let's not delude ourselves here.

I agree. Canelo should stop his shameful running and sign the contract for a 60% share of the purse, which would be his biggest payday ever.

Jacobs can't price himself out, even if he wanted to. He is the mandatory challenger. It's a WBA championship fight not a business fight. Therefore, Golovkin is forced to defend this title against him or risk losing it. I may be wrong here but I think it's a 65/35 purse split in favor of the champion Gennady Golvokin.

C'mon! Of course GGG diserves a 40%. They dont let themselfes get fooled.

$10m off of the PPV "flop", the site fee from Jerry Jones (who knows how much Jones paid), the Mexican TV money (that apparently drew nearly 20m homes on national TV), the event sponsors, and Alvarez's personal sponsors add up to a nice chunk of change.

Assuming the 85/15 split from the Schaefer days is still in effect, and Alvarez made out rather well for him, closer to $20m than you're likely to ever acknowledge.
