Alvarez-Smith did over 50k seats at ATT Stadium (likely sold 40k tickets), netted nearly $10m on the PPV, did a really strong rating in Mexico, and has a promoter's share on his own fights (if the numbers from when Schaefer was running things still hold, Alvarez ends up taking home 80% to 85% of the net proceeds on the fight), among other revenues.

This fight yes at the location it was. He is still not making $20 million a fight. $20 million a fight indicates every fight in recent history which is not the case. Also as I pointed out to someone else there were people on reddit boxing at the event pretty close to the ring for $40 a seat. Yes canelo makes a good living but I personally don't care about finances. A fight should never not be made because on fighter wants to be greedy.

So on a business side if I can't see records revenue for myself I need you, if I could do it without you then I don't need you. Same applies if you worked under me. Canelo as big and famous as he is had Khan in front of him and couldn't crack half a million buys. Cotto brought in a huge Puerto Rican fan base to those buys between them, one could argue Cotto was the actual draw there. So unless you can find a fighter from 147 to 175 that can get Canelo over the hump your point is completely pointless.

My man clearly you've never been to a mega fight in person. Do you understand how many motherloving sponsors alone sign up for one? This is a mega fight to the letter. It's the only real mega fight in the sport right now, Kovalev vs Ward is a good fight, an interesting fight but it's not a mega fight. Between the rebroadcast rights outside of the states, the sponsors, the merchandise, what the arena pays for the event, the gate, the ppv money..50 million bucks is not that far fetched for Canelo take home after GBP's cut and this is a million ppv seller at the least. I loathe talking finances in sports with folks because your views are all so linear, but try to at least grasp the full picture for once bruh. This fight does five to ten million easily on sponsors alone. Hell I got a cool 100k for them right now to get my damn company name on any piece of marketing for that fight.
