Oscar knew for a fact they were never going to agree to it, but it gives him a pass from all of the simpletons who are out there who don't know anything about business.

Also, how many clowns have misread this article?

There's lots of people who think that K2 have asked for the same split as what Manny got against Floyd. Yet those percentages have just been used as an example in this article. Nobody actually knows what K2 have asked for. All we know is that they want a split like what was used for the Floyd-Manny fight. So all that's happened so far, is that they've said they want a split instead of a flat fee. That's it.

This site is absolutely littered with morons.

    It needs cleansing.
The terms for Kovalev-Ward were agreed to well before the first press conference.

Beyond that, it's not like the formal contract was sent by email; there's no venue, the sponsors still need to be figured out, TV rights and a host of other terms to settle.

Golden Boy likely sent K2 an offer sheet for a package worth eight figures, with that figure hardening once the details are better set.

Again, there is nothing wrong with a promoter asking for a split instead of a flat fee. Canelo can still get the bigger split.

Everyone's going mad over nothing, saying GG's pricing himself out etc, when we don't even know what percentage K2 are looking for.
Floyd only split the pot on his fights with Pacquiao, Alvarez, Cotto, Oscar, Hatton, and Gatti; it didn't make sense, to Floyd, to have to split the pot with anyone else.

Golden Boy, on behalf of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, have made it painfully clear that they don't think that Golovkin brings the business to the table to justify splitting the pot with K2, at any percentage.

If K2 is insisting on getting a split on the fight, the fight simply may not end up even happening.

Remember how you were writing essays on how 40m flat was a fair and generous offer? Reflect on that for a minute

GGG should be happy with what Canelo first offered him, i dont get it if ggg is so confident in beating canelo like his groupie fans are why not take whats offered to you and if you beat the man you become the man.

Well because unlike gggs 12 yr old ****** fans he's not confident in beating canelo thats why he's trying to maximize that payday incase he gets his ass beat.

GGG is pricing himself out of the fight now just let his bum ass retire with a bum of the month record.

Mayweather-Pacquiao ended up being twice the fight, financially, that anyone could've expected, and Manny Pacquiao MAYBE got $50m on the fight (the fact that Pacquiao, after the Floyd payday and another $20m for the Bradley fight, is still needing to fight Jessie Vargas to support his family makes it clear that his actual take wasn't astronomical).

Pacquiao could've gotten about the same money that he ended up getting, had a better chance in the actual fight (with an extra 4 years of youth in his body), and had a near 5-year run of continued fights (likely undergirded with a good performance on the biggest stage that he's likely to ever see).

$70m (about what Pacquiao's share on the PPV was, if he actually got his money), before deducting Roach's cut, Koncz's cut, training camp expenses, taxes, and advances from Bob Arum (travelling around with a 200-person entourage can't be all that cheap) seemingly didn't go all that far.

All the reports say Pac made 100-120m. Whether he makes 40 or 120 he's gotta pay those guys, taxes etc so not sure what your point is. So yeah, 120 goes a lot farther than 40 duh

Canelo is a MW when it's convenient. Right now he's a WW. . Golovkin deserves a split. Let's face it he's the draw in this fantasy. Every other post on this forum is about Golovkin whether it be from lovers or haters. Canelo looked huge against Smith. He's no WW. Canelo is a great champion but he's being controlled by his promoters. Can't blame them it's just business, nothing more.

$100m-$120m was likely about what Top Rank got on the fight; to assume that Pacquiao ever saw anything near that amount cross his face is laughable.

Floyd offered him the chance to literally see $40m cross his face (no doubt, if Pacquiao had taken the offer, Floyd would've likely given him the TV rights to Asia, for the simple fact that I doubt Floyd would care to do the work to chase that money down).

They didn't take the Ward fight?

There wasn't a Ward fight to take. And I say that as a HUGE fan of Andre's.

Did you forget the talks the agreed upon 50/50 split and the fact that Golovkin says Ward is too much for him so explain how there was no fight to be made

Second who cares if Canelo had the belt ask yourself has Canelo fought at the Middleweight limit no it's not about what you come in the ring at on fight night it's what weight class you fight in and how comfortable your body is plus Cotto was more of Middleweight than Canelo because he did come in fight Geale at a catchweight of 158 plus had a similar from to Golovkin's but look at it like this Canelo will be facing Golovkin next year so let's see how this plays out

Man am so over this fight.. I don't care if it ever happens! The saga is pathetic! Canelo is yellow! I've always prefeered the Jacobs fight anyway!
