Canelo is a great champion but he's being controlled by his promoters. Can't blame them it's just business, nothing more.
      I agree.

I'm really surprised by Oscar's actions.

He couldn't have prevented all the criticism that Canelo has received had he have gotten him to vacate his belt straight after the Cotto fight.

Second who cares if Canelo had the belt ask yourself has Canelo fought at the Middleweight limit no it's not about what you come in the ring at on fight night it's what weight class you fight in and how comfortable your body is plus Cotto was more of Middleweight than Canelo because he did come in fight Geale at a catchweight of 158 plus had a similar from to Golovkin's but look at it like this Canelo will be facing Golovkin next year so let's see how this plays out
There was never an Andre Ward fight on the table. They sent a contract when GG had another fight lined up and he was looking to face the winner of Cotto-Canelo afterwards. Also, Andre had only fought once in 19 months, he hadn't made SMW in 2 years, and he's just recently admitted that he can no longer make SMW. The fight was never viable.

Regarding Canelo, if you win the lineal belt, ask for a voluntary before yapping like a dog, and you weigh-in as a LHW on fight night, then you have to expect to be called out.

If the offer was BS, K2 could've simply gone to the HBO spin press, said it was a piece of ****, and let the boxing press spin Alvarez as the chicken**** that they've been trying to punk folks into thinking he was to make the Golovkin fight.

K2 said they offered Billy Joe Saunders $4m, Saunders went public with the offer actually being for $1.5m, and K2 was left having to acknowledge that.

So why accept the first offer?

I'm not saying the offer wasn't real, or it wasn't sent. I'm saying that in my opinion, they knew before they sent it that it was going to be knocked back. Because again, nobody in business would accept an offer like that a year out. Nobody in their position would have agreed to it. Oscar knew that. But it takes the heat off Canelo, because some people will believe that they're trying to make the fight.

Regarding BJS, I'm a big fan of his. He said the money worked out to £1.5m. (pounds not dollars)

Man reading through this thread has been highly entertaining. Someone needs to remind BBB side fans that he won't be on HBO PPV (where the real money for him is) unless he fights Canelo.
Canelo doesn't need him at all, he is a fighter with options. He will be fighting on Cinco de Drinko and Mexican Independence day weekends for the the next few years at least.
GGG fans think he is bringing all this money in and its not there. This fight is not being talked about outside of the hardcore. It will do just above the Cotto fight and doesn't warrant anything more than a token percentage (10% or less) plus a solid guarantee for GGG. Asking for anything else is clearly pricing themselves out of the fight. The second Canelo dropped the belt he took all of GGG's leverage away. A solid B side like GGG doesn't send counteroffers, they take what they are given or don't get the fight.
And on what planet are some of these GGG nuthuggers living on thinking GGG is where Mayweather was at before the ODL fight? Utter nonsense. Floyd was a solid PPV fighter that was ready to take the next steps to a superstar. Even then he made concessions to Oscar on money, weight, gloves. etc.. GGG is no where near where Floyd was in 2006-2007 and probably never will be with the current state of boxing.

                      Scipio2009,

what in my statement doesn't make sense?
                      This is what you wrote:

Golden Boy, on behalf of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, have made it painfully clear that they don't think that Golovkin brings the business to the table to justify splitting the pot with K2, at any percentage.
                      How does that make sense?

He obviously has to be given A percentage.

They can reach a compromise and have a fair split from the total revenue.
