The risk for a cut/injury is always there, but having an 8-week camp to get fit (before fighting some soft touch), and then having a hard 6-week camp to prepare for Alvarez isn't unheard of.
He will definitely be facing a soft-touch, I've heard Rob Brant (who?) is one of two names being considered. I just doubt that a guy that waited 10 months to be ready to face someone like that will be ready for Alvarez 6 weeks later.

Obviously, a lot more reward vs Floydie than vs Monroe. By several million $$. Shame though, Monroe is a great boxer, but a boring one for the fans to sit thru. If he'd just sit down on his punches better, he would definitely up his resume.

-Billy Joe Saunders (WBO 160 champ, East Coast location makes it easier for UK fans to travel) -Andy Lee (Irish boxer, a play for the Irish American fanbase in the Northeast) -Willie Monroe Jr (**** style, but his roots in NY should help business a bit) -Avtandil Khurtsidze (near no profile, but an exciting style matchup, also based in NY) A Lara rematch could work (as a pure play to the core boxing audience in NYC), but the business that that fight does, unless Golden Boy can partner with some NY-based matchups to goose the audience, we'll see. edit: completely forgot about Curtis Stevens (the profile of that fight is bunk, but Stevens has a name in NYC and fights in a style that would make for a good fight). Stevens is more and more likely the more I think about it
Of those, I'd pick Stevens first, then Khurtsidze. Also think Canelo could KO Jacobs. He could beat Lee, but I doubt he could stop him. And Saunders just isn't right for Canelo, for the same reasons Monroe and Lara aren't. Not the exciting fights he wants for his fans. But of course the GGG-aholics will say he's ducking Monroe. SMH

Yet Canelo still needs two ****ing years to get ready for GGG. Strange.

If it was "easy" for him, why did he look pathetic the whole time? Monroe certainly won by a mile but he looked like he gave it all he had, without ever hurting the opponent or impressing anyone, and that was truly sad. You are sadder for trying to pretend that wasn't the case. (hint; you're being very transparent)
First they said he deserved the fight, now they say no way.

They're afraid. They know if they don't ko Monroe as fast as GGG did they'll look bad.

CanelNO learned his lesson and that is to stay away from pure boxers. Only stationary targets from now on, or the straight ahead style. CanelNO's boxing abilities is average. He should not be on any P4P lists.

but they will fight amir khan. monroe is a middleweight that's why they will duck him. alvared will only fight small fighters to take their punch. plus he comes in at fight night as a LHW.

I thought I saw talent in the guy once but I'll fully admit I was dead wrong.

Canelo should go after someone of substance; Jacobs, Eubank, Saunders. All fights he'd win. If he wants a tuneup, fight Lemieux. Easy fight and hbo did a nice job hyping David up in his last outing.
If Alvarez could get Saunders and the WBO strap, it makes a Trip match up for all the marbles next year. That's got to be worth more revenue. I really would like to see him fight folks not on Trips resume. Eliminate the leftovers conversation or the how/when he beat them comparisons made by casuals or fan boys who dksab.
