I still think GGG fights the winner, but not until after he completes his MW goals.

The CW was set at 158, but Hopkins came in light.

However, the difference (as compared to Canelo) de la Hoya was actually a good bit smaller than B-hop, de la Hoya wasn't a MW, heck he could be a 147 pounder.

Canelo on the other hand isn't lighter than GGG, in fact he doesn't give up weight or reach, only height.

I never said it doesn't make since.

I just said GGG is finally poised to gain his unification, get big MW fights, and land Canelo (the pressure is on.)

B-hop didn't go up to 175 to fight the best fighter before he beat De La Hoya and Tito.

In fact, B-hop only moved up once he lost at MW.
Hopkins came in light at age 39 and beat Oscar! At age 41 he beats Tarver! THAT'S GREATNESS! Roy Jones Jr. was champ @ MW, SMW, And HW! THAT'S GREATNESS! There are levels to this ****!

Hey Hopkins, you're much taller than Frazier and you have a longer reach than Marciano. Go make a statement and fight Deontay Wilder .

But he did move up and won the LHW title at age 41! THAT'S GREATNESS!

GGG is a small middleweight. He's the Middleweight champion. He has destroyed everyone. He doesn't walk around at 175 plus. Isn't there a reason why we weight classes?

                    Yes 15 nominally.

In real terms it's more than that when taking into account fighters walk around weights. If he fights a 175 guy, he is really fighting a 185-190 guy. If Kovalev fights a Cruiser, he is really fighting a 200+ guy.

This applies to everybody of course. Smaller fighters who move up to fight GGG, face the same challenge but we're talking about GGG right now.

And this is my firm stance on GGG and his run at 160:

Plus, the higher classes are harder to move up. GGG if he started pro young could have started at 154, maybe should have.

MW to SMW is the hardest jump. I do think GGG will win a title at 168 and at least try for Ward or Kov.

I do think it augments though, but winning more titles in more classes doesn't automatically put you above.

If that was the case right now Canelo would be better than GGG, and I just don't think it's the case--especially since both of Canelo's titles were won buy beating a guy who was in the weight class below or belonged there.

Hatton and Cotto both gave up size. And even winning the title from Smith is good, but not great.

I think Canelo will be a hof though.
Pacquiao won his SWW title in a catch weight fight @ 150! However his first title was at Flyweight. THAT'S GREATNESS! Right now both Cotto & Canelo are greater than GGG, ONLY because of their resumes! We can't wipe away history because we don't like the guys! Hopefully we'll see GGG dare to be GREAT one day!
