  • Of course he deserves a split of the PPV. GGG was spot on with his prediction.
Not that any of this talk matters, as GBP don't want the fight.
It's all 'when', 'when', 'when' in those DLH quotes. And it's all 'when', 'when', 'when' whenever Canelo speaks.

    • They both still have fights coming up so let's wait to see if they both win and see what they offer. But here's hoping team GGG don't price themselves out

And his team will absolutely reject a flat fee of $6m. That's less than Khan got. Golovkin-Canelo are not only two of the biggest names in the sport, the fight should also be one of the most competitive amongst the elite in the last 5 years. Many people see it as a true 50/50 fight.

Make no mistake about it - this event, especially with all this build up, can easily generate a million+ PPV buys. Golovkin's not some random no name, or a 500k/fight PBC fighter. He brings plenty of star power and is a proven seller. Golovkin's team was crazy when they said they want 50/50. That's unrealistic. But he should absolutely get a split.

Personally, I think this verbal sparring is just both sides blowing smoke. If they want to fight, they'll agree on terms. Something like 20m guarantee for Canelo, 5m for Golovkin, with 70/30 PPV split over ~400k buys.
it will change his life in terms of star power, he will go from fighting on hbo to fighting on ppvs for most or almost every fight, which means he will at least double his income from now on, people will recognize him at the airports and stuff like that, it will be hard for him to go to the movies like a normal person can do, thats a change on your life, it will definetly change his status in and outside of boxing... boxing isnt always fair and fighters have to sacrifice in order to achieve later on, but eith if he is ok fighting bums and getting paid "well", then why even entertein the idea...

Yes. I am saying it is unfair. It makes no difference what Canelo or GGG made in past fights. This fight is the biggest money fight in boxing today and GGG is 50% of why it's the biggest fight in boxing. Can you understand that? GGG isn't 5% or 10% or the the B side of why this is such a big fight.GGG is fully 50% of why it is such a rich fight. GGG's highest pay day to date is the Brook fight which isn't remotely as big a fight as the GGG vs Canelo fight. Do you think it's fair the GGG only gets a few dollars more for fighting Canelo than he did for fighting Brook? I sure as hell don't think that's fair. That's about as fair as Canelo only getting paid a few dollars more for fighting GGG than he will make for his fight with Smith next week. A 60 40 split in Canelo's favor sounds fair to me. That way Canelo is the A side but not to the point of absurdity. If they can't come to terms and this fight never happens then Canelo not only losses his biggest paid day he loses respect. GGG has already proven he has no fear of Canelo when he forced Canelo to vacate the title rather than fight him for purse bid money.GGG won't lose respect for turning down a lowball offer but Canelo will never get back the respect he lost until he fights GGG.

Canelo has absolutely no reason to offer or give Golovkin 30% of a PPV unless Golovkin proves he can generate more than 100,000 PPV's in the US. Canelo generate more than double Golovkin's lone PPV when he fought Lara and Angulo. The numbers matter in a negotiation.
Canelo v GGG I the biggest fight in boxing.

De La Hoya knows damn well k2 is gonna tell them to shove it and let the public put pressure on Canelo.

Heck, last we checked it was a 90-10 split, somehow De LaHoya thinks GGG I worth less.

This is nothing more than attempt De La Hoya to save face for not fighting GGG. Period.

What a load of bollocks. You know what happens if Golovkin doesn't take the fight? He stays making $2 mil pay days on HBO and a shit resume with no names. If he and his fans are fine with that, good for them.
