And his team will absolutely reject a flat fee of $6m. That's less than Khan got. Golovkin-Canelo are not only two of the biggest names in the sport, the fight should also be one of the most competitive amongst the elite in the last 5 years. Many people see it as a true 50/50 fight.

Make no mistake about it - this event, especially with all this build up, can easily generate a million+ PPV buys. Golovkin's not some random no name, or a 500k/fight PBC fighter. He brings plenty of star power and is a proven seller. Golovkin's team was crazy when they said they want 50/50. That's unrealistic. But he should absolutely get a split.

Personally, I think this verbal sparring is just both sides blowing smoke. If they want to fight, they'll agree on terms. Something like 20m guarantee for Canelo, 5m for Golovkin, with 70/30 PPV split over ~400k buys.

This fight is the biggest money fight in boxing today and GGG is 50% of why it's the biggest fight in boxing. Can you understand that? GGG isn't 5% or 10% or the the B side of why this is such a big fight.GGG is fully 50% of why it is such a rich fight. GGG's highest pay day to date is the Brook fight which isn't remotely as big a fight as the GGG vs Canelo fight. Do you think it's fair the GGG only gets a few dollars more for fighting Canelo than he did for fighting Brook? I sure as hell don't think that's fair. That's about as fair as Canelo only getting paid a few dollars more for fighting GGG than he will make for his fight with Smith next week. A 60 40 split in Canelo's favor sounds fair to me. Can't legitimately call a boxer with one 150,000 PPV in his 35 fight career a "proven seller". Canelo has absolutely no reason to offer or give Golovkin 30% of a PPV unless Golovkin proves he can generate more than 100,000 PPV's in the US. Canelo generate more than double Golovkin's lone PPV when he fought Lara and Angulo. The numbers matter in a negotiation.
