Golovkin is contracted to HBO, Jacobs is not. If it is not on HBO it won't happen, it's simple really, the fight will go to purses and GGG will drop the belt.

No he won't, HBO will let him fight on pbc or showtime if they lose purse bid, here is why:

1. GGG gets 3/4 of the purse.

2. Haymon will lose money in the fight.

3. Jacobs will lose meaning Haymon lost money just to see his fighter lose.

4. HBO lose nothing, but gains a more popular GGG who just fought in front of a different audience.

All in all if HBO refuses to pay for it, they'd probably let ggg make the defense.

But the truth is, Haymon won't overpay in purse bid because he stands to lose anyways.
