I'd actually like to see Jacobs vs Golovkin. I hope the fight happens.

But it stands to reason that if it goes to purse bids Lil G will drop the belt because of his relationship with HBO. We've already seen another HBO fighter walk away from a purse bid in Kovalev...why are some of you acting like it's racist to even suggest that the same thing will happen again? It's based on actual precedent not on speculation.

It's not racist to suggest that, though it's probably wrong and there is no precedent for an Hbo guy giving up his belt like that. It's not even necessarily racist cheering on that possibility, but it's pretty scummy and anti boxing

wrong. The Duva thing was completely different. It was at a different time, under different HBO leadership, different budget constraints, and Duva was too dumb to actually go through with the bid to see what happened. We dont know what HBO would have done, because Duva withdrew before the bid even took place and before HBO would have had to make a decision......

I for one am not cheering the possibility as I'd like to see the fight. In a bad middleweight division Jacobs is one of the few interesting opponents for Golovkin.

But I am almost 100% sure that HBO will encourage GGG to drop the belt rather than see him appear on Showtime or some other channel if he loses the purse bid. I'd even be willing to bet on it.
