??? How so? This is a legitimate fight. I can only think of 2-3 names batter for Pac.
I'm buying this fight. I know Vargas is a top 5 WW. Plus Pax won't have to run around the ring chasing him. He's too OLD for that sht.Comment

When Haymon was going to Showtime, ESPN, Spike TV, CBS, etc., It was a dumb idea! Now that Arum is trying to go the same route for Manny, Bradley, Crawford, etc., suddenly the PBC haters will sing a different tune! The hate of Mayweather spilled over to the hate for al Haymon & Showtime, and the love for Pacquiao spilled over to the love of Bob Arum & HBO! If we would just have love for the fighter, and realize how many people are taking directly from the pockets of our heroes, we wouldn't be so ******! The consumer has the most power! Why pay $60 for some bull**** when something just as good doesn't cost a dime? Did we depend on HBO and Showtime for Ali, Frazier, CForeman, Leonard, Hearns, and Duran? Do we depend on HBO and Showtime for the NFL, NBA, and MLB? Do we pay $60 for the Super Bowl or NBA Finals Game 7? Why do we have to pay $60 for Crawford vs. Postol?Comment

"In today's news..."
September 2, 2016:
Terence Crawford’s resounding decision win against Viktor Postol to unify junior welterweight world titles on July 23 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was a money loser, as most expected it would be, but it did not lose as much as Top Rank promoter Bob Arum thought it would. Arum told ESPN.com that the fight generated between 50,000 and 60,000 buys on HBO PPV but a stronger-than-expected gate helped offset losses, which he said amounted to about $100,000.
“We lost a little money but very little,” said Arum, who said all along that he preferred for the fight to be on HBO but that the network did not have the money in its budget to buy the fight, forcing it to pay-per-view.

HBO doesn't need to bid on UFC. They could have had exclusive content two years ago. The UFC will never appear on HBO because UFC handles their own production, have their own announcers, etc - and that doesn't work for HBO, who are always in charge of the production and on-air talent. That was the biggest sticking point in their negotiations and neither side is willing to budge on that.Comment

I agree with Panda on this one. HBO has basically just phoned it in. And I doubt it has anything to do with PBC. Banking on the failure of another rival is not HBOs M.O.They aren't televising Pacquiao's ppv, are they? That alone is different from what they've done in the past.
Admittedly it's just speculation on my part...but it's very possible that the powers that be over there saw that Haymon was going to affect the boxing industry. And until they are sure of how everything is going to shake out they want to play it safe and pinch their pennies.
If Haymon's money runs out (and for the record I hope he succeeds, not that he fails) then they will be the biggest player in town again and can swoop in to pick up the pieces.Comment
