It wasnt a real "beatdown", but you could tell GGG was handling that kid. It's like it disappeared from the net either late last year or early this year. Golovkin didn't drop him or anything, but it was clear who was the better fighter. I believe it was at Wild Card. No it wasnt vs Chavez. It was Canelo vs GGG sparring. Golovkin worked him over. I'm not BSing
I remember seeing a small clip from the sparring about a year or so ago. It wasn't much, maybe 90 seconds or something like that but Candelita was up against the ropes and GGG was hitting her with combinations. She blocked most of them but GGG did crush her with two very solid left hooks to the body.

Yea, because everyone else is offering twice as much?

They are asking for money they know the fight wont generate. Its ducking to the max.

GGG is not a ppv star and these guys bring little to the table to drive up the worth of the fight.

That footage would be all over youtube if true. You're a liar.

        • Was K2 scared when they made that demand for 164:

"Loeffler indicates that their strategy, since last year, has been to unify the middleweight division.

However, during that period they did explore potential fights at super middleweight with both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

When it came it Ward, Loeffler and Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez made it very clear that a catch-weight of 164-pounds would be required. They also feel their boxer deserves a bigger portion of the monetary split. Roc Nation's offer was an even 50-50 deal.

Golovkin came under fire for his catch-weight demand. Loeffler explained that Golovkin fighting at the full weight limit of 168 would only be considered if the event was financially worth the risk. They felt a fight with Ward would not have generated the same financial benefits as a fight with Froch or Chavez.

“We’ve always said when we first got to HBO that we wanted to unify the titles. We said we’d move up to 168 for mega events. Fights with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Carl Froch would have been big events and that’s why we were willing to move up and we were willing to go down for a Floyd Mayweather fight before but we always said we wanted unification fights,” Loeffler told BoxingScene.com."

I guess that wasn't ducking? That wasn't being "business man?" Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

              • Doug Fischer (May 27, 2011):

                Rounds three and four:

Alvarez abandoned his jab and his upper-body movement and took the fight to Golovkin with both hands. Golovkin welcomed the aggression, easily blocking Alvarez’s punches while landing most of his. Alvarez ****** it up and even walked forward while attempting to block as much heat as he could, but it was clear that he could not match Golovkin’s strength or power. Still, the budding young star got in an occasional power punch whenever he let his hands go in bunches. His hook-right combination found the mark but his technique was not as tight as it was at the start of the session and his face was turning beet red from Golovkin‘s punches. The kid showed guts but he didn’t merit a single “bien” from Reynoso in the third round.

                ...

                Round five:

A tired-looking Alvarez resumed his jab and lateral movement to buy himself a breather. His jab was especially effective when he shot-gunned it. Golovkin neglected his jab and looked to counter Alvarez’s left stick with single power punches (the hook in particular). Alvarez did more moving along the ring perimeter (his back now grazing the ropes) than punching, but he got off hard shots when he did let his hands go.

BJS has never earned more than a million and Jocobs' highest purse was 1.5 million when Haymon was still paying his fighters way more than they deserved.

GGG should stick out for 50/50 or nothing from Canelo. If not for a big payday, there's no reason for him to want Canelo any more.

Fischer said a 21 year old Canelo held his own against a 29 year old prime Golovkin. Do you think a 21 year old Golovkin would have done the same? I doubt it.

If he beats Canelo it launches him to the next level and would add much needed credibility to his resume.
