i thought whole point of weight classes is so people can fight at a weight they are most comfortable at. Why bother with them in the first place if you are all just going to call golovkin a coward for doing exactly that?

You fans should tell them to STFU about fighting at 168 then, if they don't want people to say he should move up. They are constantly talking about it, they were promoting him as the fighter that would fight anyone from 154-168.

yeah but what i think he meant was if there is a superfight at 168 he would go up. Not to fight fighters who are nothing special

He doesn't do himself any favours with what he and Abel say, but I think a lot of people also misunderstand them.

In my opinion, he'll definitely move up to SMW before he retires. He hasn't said here that he won't move up to SMW, he's just saying that there is no huge PPV fight for him there. And he's right about that. But again, I think he'll move up eventually. But he's not going anywhere yet, as he wants the WBO belt as well as a Canelo fight.

                Super Middle Weight is 161-168...
                And?

What would a SMW weigh at the 30 day mark?

                What's your point?

Yet he refuses to do what he demands others do and move up and fight bigger fighters. Less risk trying to fight smaller guys then it is moving up fighting bigger fighters. But when fighters who don't fight at 160 tell him the same thing he and his fans cry and make excuses.
                  Begging WW's?

That's been the narrative since GGG came on HBO - the focus is on MW but he's open to offers from fighters from the surrounding divisions and would move up or down for the right fight (ie payday). Which is pretty much what every fighter in every division does anyway - unless they outgrow a division and have to move up. I don't really get the controversy.

They've actually been quite consistent with it, it's just that every time a 168 fight falls through or there's a CW offer their willingness to move weight is (not unreasonably) called into question. I get it, but what is the 'right fight'? I guess that's for GGGs team to decide, but they're working to the risk / reward ratios just like everyone else.

He will NEVER move up. Pipe dream. He's 34 and has been fighting at 160 from birth. Nothing will change.
