Reading past the headline (actually reading the article) he is right on a few things. Sure Hopkins was old, well past his best, but he was still winning against good fighters and many on here who can't see past skin color were predicting Hopkins v Pavlik all over again. Shouting it from the rooftops. Many youtube channels and boxing experts were picking Hopkins to do it again. Hopkins was and is a much bigger name than Ward is or probably will ever be. That fight showed that Kovalev wasn't just a simple puncher. He had skills. He had to or Hopkins would have humiliated him. Now Ward is the bigger test, in that he is closer to his prime (still past it) and undefeated, but let's not act like everyone thought Kovalev was just going to ruin Hopkins the way he did. Don't play revisionist history.

kovalevs just got to get stuck in to him early, dont worry about losing the first few rounds. hit the body, hit the head, wards not been in tough fights for years and wont know how to handle it. and if ward starts fouling, ****ing foul him back, dont do a kessler and let him get away with it. smack him on the break if you have toComment

So what...the Hopkins was 50.
Stop making excuses about him being ill against his stablemate Chillemba.
Ward has more punchers on his list than Kovalev.
Duva won't put Kova in with anybody that can pop.Comment

People were picking Hopkins to win not because Hopkins is so good but because they were not impressed with Kovalev.Reading past the headline (actually reading the article) he is right on a few things. B-Pops has 0 offense at this stage of his career.
Ward ain't no 50 year old featherduster.
Chillemba was jabbing the melodium out of Kovalev...if he had any power he'd be fighting Ward instead.Comment

loads of people were picking hopkins to beat him. ward is slippery i will give him that, but kovalevs going to get to him sooner or later. just hope he doesnt waste any time and try to box him, and the most important thing is that he doesnt let ward foul him, cause that is what wards plan is going to be, believe me.Comment

Come on man. He clearly carried Hopkins out of respect (has more or less just said that) until Hopkins stuck his tongue out at him in the 12th round. He then beat the remainder of Hopkins good years out of him. Hopkins was battered BADLY. Also, you have to credit Hopkins. He was a great that was known for taking a good shot and knew how to survive. I'm just saying had Kovalev went at him earlier like he did in the 12th there is zero possibility IMO of Hopkins surviving the fight. Plus, Hopkins stopped trying to win after getting dropped in the first. A crafty Bhop whose entire focus is not getting stopped won't be stopped easily.Comment
