He'd already passed the baton to Mayweather by then.

This could turn out to be a bad decision on HBOs part, potentially losing out on a May/Pac rematch $

I had high hopes for the Ward/Kov numbers but I could see it doing 80-200k, I'd think Manny/Vargas eclipses those #s

Hence why we have no new ppv cash cows.
i agree with this post addix.

          specially the last part.

floyd berto should have been floyd vs garcia with garcia getting the shine win or lose. pac vargas or pac bradley3 hell even pac algieri should have been pac porter or pac thurman or pac crawford.

floyd and manny are circumventing the natural order of life in boxing with this pathetic ducking of threatening named opposition.

But isn't Jessie Vargas a young up and comer. I think boxing fans are too fickle, Jessie has a good chance at beating Manny. We acting like Jessie Vargas isn't a two division and still only 27.

To be fair, Arum wants to probably milk every last cent from Manny as possible and is maybe planning on pitting him against Crawford after Vargas.

Pac went to Showtime before so this isn't all that new. Plus, Pacquiao's start power has fallen greatly, as did his skills fr getting older, so fighting no names isn't going to cut it for PPV. After Vargas he can still fight for HBO against decent names, only unless he signs a multi fight deal with a network. Even if he does, I doubt HBO will care too much since again, his name has fallen and people are past the whole Mayweather vs Pacquiao era, people are tired of the same old bull**** and want better quality fights.
Keep in mind Arum knew all this already. And thus, knew that they were leaving HBO.

I can't really say I Blame HBO to be honest, I just think they're ready to move on from the Mayweather and Pacquiao ERA but also I do think it is Peter Nelson sticking it to Arum a bit. Arum probably done with HBO all together at this point, better work things out with Showtime

Or just do his own Top Rank PPV Pacquiao and Arum will survive just find without HBO I'm sure! The less I have to listen the Lampley THE BETTER! I'm sure Lampley is somewhere Crying over this though

I disagree with you on the Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch. I really think Floyd is done. He's not coming back after a year and a half off at 40 years old while Pac has been staying active.

I agree with the second part. Pac is still good money and still good for 200k PPV's. This is all Peter Nelson't fault. Nelson DKSAB. He fucked up building the Ward-Kovalev fight by being cheap. Sergey had to go to Russia and fight. His fight came on on a Monday night and got some of the lowest ratings ever for HBO. Then they didn't want to give Ward any money for a decent opponent. He's saving money for the Canelo fight in December and GGG's fight in December.
