So if I dont enjoy Laras or Wladimer's performances I'm just a casual fan who doesnt appreciate great defensive boxing? lol
I appreciate skill but is it entertaining? Its a sport to the spectator first and foremost, people pay money to see them fight. In other words, without the casual fan fighters like Mayweather and Lara wouldnt be as known as they are.
And you can be great and still be exciting, there are so many elite fighters from the past who were defensively blessed but still exciting.
Somebody like Lara can fight their fight, but that doesnt mean the average fan who PAYS MONEY cant say "you know what, im never gonna see that guy fight again because it bore the hell outta me"
Exciting fighters who didnt get hit much in their prime
All fighters in their prime
Roy Jones
Mike Tyson
James Toney
Young BHOP
Manny Pacquiao
Thomas Hearns
Sugar Ray Leonard
Pernell Whitaker
Young Floyd Mayweather
Crawford before the postol fight
So you tell me why guys like Lara and Rigondeaux cant be more exciting when greater fighters in the past were 10x more exciting?
The term 'boring' exists, exccessive holding, lack of punching, consistently on the backfoot, running (not moving) all play a role.
Boring , as used on NSB, is defined as any fight where Floyd, Rigo, Ward or Crawford (as of 7/23/16) easily defeated their opponent.
Exciting, as used on NSB, is defined as any fight where a boxer popular with posters on NSB, almost always a non African-American, knocks out or otherwise dominates opponents that are either terrible, weak chinned, coming off a loss, old, faded, shot, coming up from a lower weight class or a combination of all.

I tend to find them entertaining as he is rather unintelligent and easily trolled into an argument in which he always ends up showing just how ignorant he is. I do feel a little embarrassed for finding it entertaining though.
sit your simple azz down....if you dont like a thread dont post in it.....ignorant is far from an insult coming from you. You mad....do you quailify as one of the dumb azzes who caqll dominant fighters "boring" because you dont like them
Not at all. Wlad was defeated and is boring. Orlando Salido was defeated but is not boring. Pac was defeated and is not boring. Eleidar Alvarez is undefeated, highly ranked, but is boring as hell to watch.
I think the better argument would be that there is a certain skillset that makes the fight boring, and that skillset is often practiced by men and women who are good boxers. So you combine someone who's a great boxer and masters a defensive skillset, and you end up with a boring, difficult to defeat fighter.
Trying to make this about any specific fighter or race is ******. There are boring white guys and exciting african american fighters. Hell, the poster boy for 'boring', Floyd, was a pretty exciting fighter to watch in his early years - when he still carried power.
them 2 arent as boring as people like ward and wlad, didnt clinch every 2 seconds
Have you ever watched a full length fight of theirs?
Pep is the god father of "running"
He outmaneuvered his opponents, hardly ever sat down on shots and many of his fights were more like showcase type displays of his skills, moreso than a competitive fight. He clinched and used lateral movement a lot
Wlad has to many knockouts to day "he clinched every 2 seconds"
you guys exaggerate in epic proportions on this site
if you dont understand the purpose of a technique or strategy, just say so....clinching was more frequent in the past.
