He never saw the contract because Snr wasn't happy with it.

How hard is that to understand?

He wanted a completely new contract with all sorts of crazy clauses in it.

Are you also unaware that Trinadad was the current WBA Middleweight Champion and De La Hoya was the current WBO Middleweight Champion when they got in the ring with Hopkins? Furthermore, both were former Jr Middleweight champions, De La Hoya vs Hopkins was at a catch weight and Trinadad outweighed Hopkins at the weigh-in.

None of these facts can be said about Kell Brook.

This a business fight and that can be acceptable. What isn't acceptable is calling this type of fight "disrespectful to boxing" and "bad for boxing" but then months later, agreeing to the exact same type of fight.
Are you aware that Bernard stayed in a weak division for 12 years, that included an extra 5 years after he'd unified it?

Are you aware that he only fought Tarver when he'd been beaten twice by Taylor and he was in a position where he had everything to gain and nothing to lose?

Are you aware that he turned down $6m to fight Roy at a 168 CW in 2002, before having over a year out of the ring before coming back and fighting Morrade Hakkar?

Are you aware that in 2008 just prior to his fight with Calzaghe, he admitted that he could have made LHW 6 years earlier had he have wanted to?

Bernard had to make incredible sacrifices to shrink down to fight in a weak division when he could have fought at SMW and LHW earlier which were much stronger.

Bernard is 6'1, with 75" reach. He was bigger than almost all of his MW competition.

If he'd been GG's size of 5'10 with a 70" reach, we don't even know if he'd ever have left MW.

after eubank didnt happened, they signed brook in less than 24hrs, they didnt even tried for any other options, like ggg was married to hearn or the venue, no excuses for this...
Who else was he going to fight at such short notice if he wanted to keep his HBO date?

He normally has 8 week training camps.

The fight with Brook was signed the week before he was due to start camp.

Why would he have walked away from the Brook fight? It would have been nonsensical with everything set up.

Canelo also has no reason to allow Golovkin/K2 to have any leverage in their negotiations; Canelo vacating that title removes any and all leverage that Golovkin had. Also, Golovkin's mandatory status equals a greater guaranteed split of the purse. A-side Canelo and Golden Boy have no reason to allow that purse split when Golovkin refuses to agree to their catch-weight demands and Golovkin has no PPV history. This is a business and everyone at Golden Boy knows that Canelo is the Lineal/RING Middleweight champion and there is nothing that Golovkin can do about that as long as Canelo defends that title against a ranked Middleweight about once a year, and there's a number of options not named Golovkin that can satisfy that qualification.
The WBC didn't try and dictate anything. It's just embarrassing to try and hold them responsible. Every fighter knows the rules of boxing. Canelo and Oscar knew before they fought Cotto that the winner had to face GG because he was the mandatory. They knew of the deadlines months in advance and before they put in a voluntary request to fight Khan. The fight not happening has NOTHING to do with the WBC. Nobody is going to buy that. The fight isn't happening because Oscar doesn't want it yet. That's really how simple it is.

You can't try and spin it as though they dropped the belt so they could negotiate better terms because it's a business.

          1. They didn't even try and negotiate. They went out and signed to fight Liam Smith instead.

          2. What's going to happen next year if when Canelo and Oscar are finally ready, GG holds all of the MW titles? How much leverage will they have then? Sure his PPV numbers are huge, and that will be taken into account. But GG is becoming more popular with each fight, and after he's fought Brook he'll have a huge U.K. fan base. So Oscar won't be able to come to the table next year and demand huge splits in Canelo's favour. It's not going to happen. GG is on the rise, whilst Canelo's reputation has taken a huge hit. It's GG's belts that they'll be fighting for next year, so K2 aren't going to bend over for GBP.

            #respeck bax

since no one from 154-168 wants to fight ggg, he will continue to fight welters after brook...
He accepted Brook to salvage the show and his long standing HBO date.

You can't just ignore the circumstances.

              What is there to accept?

The Brook fight is very poor. But it was a last minute replacement for Eubank Jnr who was his initial target.

Yes, the fight deserves criticism. But Canelo's actions were completely different.

Canelo asked K2 and the WBC for a voluntary to fight Khan, giving everyone the impression they wanted to fight GG afterwards.

Again, Brook was a last minute replacement, that was taken about 10 days prior to his camp starting that had already been set up.

What was he supposed to do in that situation?

Although he'd fighting a WW like Canelo did, it was a last minute replacement after fights agaianst Canelo and Eubank couldn't be made.
He's still choosing to engage in a fight that he called disrespectful and bad for boxing. When you do that, ridicule should be expected.
