Khan was Canelo's initial choice.

Brook was far from being Gennady's initial choice.

When all of your options fall through due to people over pricing themselves in negotiations and you still want to stay active and get a big profile fight then of course a fight against Brook in the UK makes perfect sense.

You think Cotto was willing to negotiate sanely?
How about Canelo?
Lara?
Eubank, Jr.?
Jacobs?
Quillin?

The list goes on, dude. Any one can "claim" they "want" to fight some one, but when you throw out offers that you know the other side is not going to take seriously then it's a passive-aggressive form of avoiding an opponent.

just because you couldnt make other fights, doesnt mean you have a valid excuse to pick opponents 2 divisions down, and is even worst that weeks before you were running your mouth critizising others about the same thing...

In what world was Golovkin "forced" to fight on September 10 in the UK and/or forced to fight a Welterweight? Both of these actions are choices and any boxer would be and should be criticized when they make the exact same choices that they have been publicly critical of when done by others. Hypocrisy is alive and well at K2.

Taken a mandatory?

Given up your HBO date and a chance to fight on a big U.K. PPV to try and fight someone else? Someone other than Canelo, Jacobs and BJS?

It would have been nonsensical to have refused Brook and walked away from the entire thing.

His camp started the week after the contracts had been signed. Everything was set up ready to go. He wants to fight on HBO another twice before the end of the year. HBO were happy, K2 were happy, so why refuse it?

Nobody would have refused it in his position.

after all the crap he talked about canelo-khan, brook should have never been an option ... im not bussinessman, respect boxing...

Canelo vacated the belt because a fighter of his status has no reason to allow any sanctioning body to dictate his opponents. Canelo also has no reason to allow Golovkin/K2 to have any leverage in their negotiations; Canelo vacating that title removes any and all leverage that Golovkin had. Also, Golovkin's mandatory status equals a greater guaranteed split of the purse. A-side Canelo and Golden Boy have no reason to allow that purse split when Golovkin refuses to agree to their catch-weight demands and Golovkin has no PPV history. This is a business and everyone at Golden Boy knows that Canelo is the Lineal/RING Middleweight champion and there is nothing that Golovkin can do about that as long as Canelo defends that title against a ranked Middleweight about once a year, and there's a number of options not named Golovkin that can satisfy that qualification.

No need to attack me but it's actually worse. Brook is moving up full 13lbs not 8. Doesn't matter his walk around weight, he trains his body for 147. Megregor melted down too then fought at his walk around weight..................MMA to Boxing but requires same discipline. He will have same excuse as Khan when he wakes up though.

It's a poor fight, but I can't be too hard on GG because it was due to circumstances.

If Canelo hadn't relinquished his belt to fight Liam Smith, GG wouldn't have targeted Eubank or accepted Brook.

At the end of the day facts are facts. No matter what excuses comes up now, fact is GGG kinda talked himself into that one. He did the exact same thing that canelo did. Doesn't matter why he did it, fact is he did.

AFTER Canelo vacated, the negotiation broke down over the weight.

Nobody but you believes this.

There wasn't any negotiations.

They said they were relinquishing the belt to make negotiations easier. But they went out and signed to fight Liam Smith. It was only after that fight had been made official that Oscar then spoke with K2 about a possible fight at some point next year.

Put your hatred of GG to one side and wake up to the fact that Oscar DOES NOT want Canelo to fight GG at this stage of his career.

K2's Loeffler should have had looked for some shady tycoons from Kazakhstan able to provide Golovkin with $15-20 million and lure the likes of BJS, Jacobs, Lara, Eubank Jr etc to fight GGG in Alamata, Karaganda or Astana... right?... and schedule the fights at Kazakhstan at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, in order for HBO to air them at 09:00 p.m. on Saturday (E.T)... Right?
