La Cruz? Is he the best of the Cubans?

Ruenroeng needs to beat Selimov to make the medal rounds so can't see that happening.

He is undersized for the weight. And his weight class is the most stacked in all of Olympic boxing. At the top, you have the Cuban triple world champion Lazaro Alvarez and the highly experienced Azeri world champion, Albert Selimov. Ruenroeng may win his first fight, but then he'd almost certainly have to fight a top five guy (Sofiane Oumiha). Ruenroeng isn't going anywhere near the medals.
La Cruz would probably embarrass Ndam.

I think he's probably the best of the amateur boxers not just Cubans. Was boxer of the year last year. Think he's won every tournament at least once which is a small club to be in historically.

Conlan, Barnes and Taylor gold medal treble I hope with plenty of potential for us to pick up a few other medals with a bit of luck. Gonna be tough though. Conlan's division is stacked but he's got the potential to be a superstar.

He's in good company though, with Alvarez and Ramirez. Extremely difficult to beat alright, flashes of Roy Jones at times. A bit of a freak. Joe Ward fought him in both the 2013 and 2015 world championships. Lost both times but was much closer to him in Doha. Only 22 and if he improves as much again he could give him a good fight should they meet.

Makaela will be a star if she can win gold.

Hopefully Conlan can win Gold. I am not a huge fan, but I feel like he's Ireland's best hope for Gold on the men's side.
If he gets Gold he'll be a huge superstar. I love the Irish fans, so I really want to see an Irish superstar in boxing. Not that Frampton isn't, but I think Conlan can be even bigger if he gets Gold. Just my opinion.
Joe Ward is the best boxer for Ireland imo, but La Cruz is going to be extremely difficult to beat. I don't see Ward beating him just yet.
Barnes will more than likely get a medal, but being a Light Flyweight he wouldn't have a big of an impact like Conlan would.

Very interesting guys, thank you. I think we'll see a Pro medal especially as this is first without headguard and the first games that allow Pros to mix with ams. Both your opinions have slightly thrown me off.
