But if I remember correctly, Selimov was 2-0 up against Lazaro a few months ago and got stopped cos of a cut, I could be wrong tho? So I'm confident he can get the job done this time around.
Selimov always gets the best of Lazaro because of accuracy, Alvarez isn't the most accurate fighter in the game, so close fight.
52 is loaded right now, Veitia who fought a close fight with Elvin, Asenov who won the world qualifier and the european championship beating Muhammad Ali who is a tough fighter himself, Antonio Vargas who beat the toughest opposition in toronto last year, Leonel Dos Santos who was the only non cuban to win centroamerican and caribean games, Jeyvier Cintron is a puerto rican who was neglected of the biggest tournaments because of his age, talented kid, Yoel Finol is the brother in law of Edwin Valero, he becomes sloppy at times, but is a really talent, the biggest natural talent in the division, Misha Aloyan was the favorite in 2012 with wins over Rau Shee and Robeisy Ramirez, lost to Robeisy in london, 52 is the best class right now.

Btw on a different note, that 19 year old Cuban who fought earlier today is a special, special talent.
Yeah, he's the world champ too.

Frank Sanchez is an example of that I Forgot about him, had no clue he defected, somebody is going to get a STAR whoever signs him, just made his WSB Debut couple of months ago was extremely impressive

Mangtao Li - Frank Sanchez WSB TRTSpor by yucehan777
Looks in great shape for heavyweights standards these days.

Thanks bruh, I'm gonna have to start watching amateur boxing properly again soon, usually I look into a fighter's amateur background after they turn pro

It sounds like Elvin has got work to do tho, it won't be easy

          • The fighters in the shadows in cuba are really good.
            Milan used to beat Stevenson.
Delis knocked out Savon a couple of times.
Lara himself was in the shadow of Aragon.
Because of Angel Herrera, Ramon Goire never got to the top level, he knocked down Pernell Whitaker 3 times.
Bernardo Comas was awesome but Pablo Romero was dominating.
Even the great Mario Kindelan himself went to olympics at 30 years old because he always was second to Julio Gonzales.
And let's not forget that Andy Cruz was qualified at 52, but Cuba declined the spot because they wanted Robeisy in the olympics.

It's a fun division, Elvin is the hardest puncher in the division.

52 is the deepest division no doubt but I don't know what you're on with Selimov vs Lazaro. I can post the WSB robbery that Selimov got too. He was beat up and bloodied that's his only win against Lazaro and that was in Azerbeijan no

I believe you take me a little bit out of context,i didn't express it the right way, i don't believe that Selimov is better or really superior to Alvarez, but when Selimov gets the best of the encounter is because Alvarez lack of accuracy, even when Alvarez deserves the win or he gets it.

                  • Best boxers after 5 days:
                    1. Hasanboy Dusmatov, Uzbekistan, Light-Fly
                    2. Vassiliy Levit, Kazakhstan, Heavyweight
                    3. Joahnys Argilagos, Cuba, Light-Fly
                    4. Albert Selimov, Azerbaijan, Light-Fly
                    5. Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, Kazakhstan, Middleweight
                    6. Julio La Cruz, Cuba, Light-Heavy

I have Dusmatov, Levit, and Argilagos ahead of Selimov, Alimkhanuly, and La Cruz because they have fought twice, so we have a better assessment of them.
Dusmatov has had the tougher opponents and has defeated them pretty easily. Both of his opponents are better than the guys Argilagos and Levit have fought so far. That's why he is ranked #1 for me.
Reason why I have Levit ahead of Argilagos is because he has dominated his fights, while Argilagos did struggle in that first one. To be fair to Argilagos his first opponent is the best out of their opponents.
I have Selimov and Alimkhanuly ahead of La Cruz because they fought a better opponent and made it look just as easy as La Cruz did with his opponent. I also felt Selimov and Alimkhanuly were more consistent in their fights. La Cruz sometimes cruised a little too much. I also thought Selimov's and Alimkhanuly's performance were better. And considering their opponents were better makes it a bit more impressive. I know many will disagree.
Remember they only have one or two fights under their belts so far, so we'll see where they place as the competition progresses.

In line (meaning could potentially get in the top 5; also it's weight class order-from lightest to heaviest): Yurberjen Martinez, Oumiha, Tojibaev, Balderas, Alvarez, Conceicao, Gaibnazarov, Cissokho, Mbilli, Delgado, Savon.

I'm sure I'm missing guys, but that's already a longer list than what I wanted. We'll see who is worthy of staying or getting in as they fight more.
Martinez has fought three times and has looked good in all of them. His last fight was tough and exciting. Martinez deserves some respect. Oumiha has looked good in both his fights. I see people are pretty impressed by him.
Tojibaev has also looked good in both his fights. Savon underwhelmed in his first fight, but looked better in this last fight. Not enough to be in the top 6 though. Balderas is just there because there are a lot of people talking about him, but I think he'll drop after his fight with Alvarez. Or if he beats Alvarez he may rise.

People aren't giving Dusmatov enough credit. Guy has defeated two top guys and has done it convincingly. Joselito Velasquez, for example, has two victories over Argilagos and is a two time Pan American champion and was rated in the top 3-5 in the World for some time.
Zhakypov is a two time World Championship medalist and a three time Olympian.
If Dusmatov beats Hernandez and Argilagos he's definitely a contender for the Val Barker trophy. He has had some of the best performances so far in my opinion.
Put some respect on Dusmatov's name.

I am going by day by day (fight by fight) performances at these Olympics not their history. How they've looked and who they performed against.
Guys that have only competed in one fight can still climb.
After the top 6 guys it is difficult to really place the other guys. As the competition goes on and the more fights we will have a better idea, obviously.

Yeah Alvarez is a volume puncher obviously his accuracy will drop.

Now watch rounds 4 and 5 and you will see Selimov in a survival mode running around the ring throwing 4-6 punches per round and his face looking like a hamburger. That's Alvarez fresh with a jet lag and all. Good thing this fight was 5 rounds and not 8.
